Last year, the\u00a0COVID-19 pandemic forced various gaming events to either shut\u00a0down or go digital, including the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA<\/strong>)\u00a0Game Awards. One\u00a0of the game winners from 2020 included The Outer Wilds<\/em>\u00a0winning Best Games Award<\/a>, and the BAFTA is still going forward this year.<\/p>\n

The charitable organization recently announced the\u00a0BAFTA<\/a>\u00a02021 Games Awards nominees with\u00a0a list of familiar and new video games in each of its\u00a0categories. Some of the titles that have been nominated for several categories include popular games such as The Last of Us Part 2<\/em>, Ghost of Tsushima<\/em>, Fall Guys<\/em>, Dreams<\/em>, Hades<\/em>, and various others. These are but several of the many games nominated for the BAFTA 2021 Games Awards.<\/p>\n

The BAFTA 2021 Games Awards have a total of 18 categories, including Best Game, British Game, Game Design, Multiplayer Game, Music, Narrative, EE Game of the Year, and more.\u00a0The contenders for Best Game Award include\u00a0Animal Crossing: New Horizons<\/em>, Ghost of Tsushima<\/em>, Hades<\/em>, Half-Life: Alyx<\/em>, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales<\/em>, and The Last of Us Part 2<\/em>. While there’s plenty of competition, The Last of Us Part 2<\/em> won\u00a0Game of the Year<\/a> in the 2020 Game Awards and it seems could do so again.<\/p>\n

Throughout the categories, The Last of Us Part 2<\/em><\/a> has been nominated for 13 categories in the BAFTA 2021 Awards. This includes Animation, Artistic Achievement, Audio Achievement, Game Beyond Entertainment, Game Design, and Music. Along with award\u00a0nominations for Performer in Leading Role, Performer in a Supporting Role, Technical Achievement, and EE Game of the Year. However, the game does\u00a0have strong competition from several other nominees in\u00a0multiple categories.<\/p>\n

Some of the other contenders are\u00a0games such as Sucker Punch’s\u00a0Ghost of Tsushima<\/em><\/a>, the breakout hit Hades<\/em>, the game creator\u00a0Dreams<\/em>, and the popular multiplayer\u00a0game\u00a0Fall Guys<\/em>. Each game is a fellow nominee in most of the other categories shared with The Last of Us Part 2<\/em> alongside other games. Some of which include Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales<\/em>, Final Fantasy 7 Remake<\/em>, and even Animal Crossings: New Horizons<\/em> in several other categories.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, public voting for the nominated titles for\u00a0EE Game of the Year is now open and will close on Monday, March 22, 2021. The nominees for EE Game of the Year include Animal Crossing: New Horizons<\/em>, Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em>, Hades, Ghost of Tsushima<\/em>, The Last of Us Part 2<\/em>, and Valorant<\/em>. The BAFTA 2021 Games Awards ceremony will start\u00a0three days later on Thursday, March 25. The event itself will be streamed exclusively online for viewers to watch.<\/p>\n
