From the creation of its own development studio in 2012, to its purchase of the Twitch online streaming platform\u00a0in 2014, to the Twitch Prime service granting Amazon Prime subscribers\u00a0monthly Twitch subscriptions, free games, DLC, and more. Even just last year, the company announced <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/amazon-luna-boss-departure\/\">its Luna video game streaming service<\/a>, in lieu of services like Google Stadia.<\/p>\n<p>Now, with the popularity of\u00a0social media and streaming platforms, as well as the ability to carefully edit clips and videos\u00a0on <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-charizard-tcg-card-tiktok-macbook\/\">social media platforms such as TikTok\u00a0<\/a>and Instagram, Amazon has\u00a0launched its own mobile game-oriented social media video-sharing app\u00a0called <strong>GameOn<\/strong>. Previously, the app was only available on the Google Play store, but it is now available for download on iOS devices or in mobile browsers.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/twitch-womxns-womens-history-month-tweet\/\">Twitch\u00a0Criticized for &#8216;Womxn&#8217;s History Month&#8217; Tweet<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Amazon&#8217;s GameOn seems to combine aspects of Twitch with the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/xbox-series-z-handheld-fan-concept-tiktok\/\">increasingly popular TikTok app,<\/a> allowing users to not only view\u00a0mobile game clips and videos posted by creators, but create, edit, and post their own with ease as well. The app seems to act completely separately from Twitch, does not require an Amazon or Twitch account to use, and is completely free to download.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"200\" height=\"113\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uCVvNDaIOOM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>GameOn users can either record their mobile gameplay footage for up to 5 minutes, or save just the last few minutes of their gameplay to capture that one moment that stands out from the rest. While recording their footage, users can activate their phone&#8217;s microphone to add commentary, or add commentary afterwards in the editing process. GameOn even allows users to splice in videos of their own reactions to their videos and clips, and finally share their creations either with the world, or\u00a0just with select individuals. The app also claims to support &#8220;over 1000 of the most popular mobile games,&#8221; including <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pubg-mobile-power-armor\/\">hits like\u00a0<em>PUBG Mobile<\/em>,<\/a>\u00a0<em>Clash of Clans<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>Pokemon GO<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon&#8217;s new app also allows all of its users to partake in special challenges with their videos and clips, tasking users with recording themselves setting a certain goal, such as reaching their max combo chain in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/final-fantasy-brave-exvius-kingdom-hearts-crossover-event\/\"><em>Final Fantasy Brave Exvius<\/em>,<\/a> or reaching a score of 100 or higher with any Arctic animal in\u00a0<em>Crossy Road<\/em>. The challenge winners are determined by the most likes and views from other GameOn users, where the prize appears\u00a0to be exposure and bragging rights.<\/p>\n<p>While\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/twitch-transparency-report-content-moderation\/\">streaming platforms like Twitch<\/a> tend to focus on games played on console and\u00a0PC, it appears Amazon is intent on capturing the mobile gaming market with GameOn, making it easier than\u00a0ever for mobile gamers to share and view their favorite moments.
