With millions of players and a significant presence on streaming services,\u00a0Valheim\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>is\u00a0the latest game to\u00a0achieve widespread viral success, shooting to the top of Steam’s sales charts<\/a>. Today, the studio behind\u00a0the popular survival game announced that the\u00a0title had hit yet another financial milestone, climbing to 5 million sales only a month after its initial debut.<\/p>\n

The announcement was made via the title’s Steam page, with\u00a0a representative for the team over at Iron Gate revealing several key milestones\u00a0Valheim<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>has achieved since its debut. The biggest was the\u00a0monumental\u00a0rise in sales, which marks yet another major accolade for the\u00a0studio following four weeks of headlining Steam’s charts.<\/p>\n

The game has also reportedly become the 39th best-reviewed game on the PC storefront, while it also boasts 35 million hours of\u00a0gameplay over on Twitch.\u00a0In total, the playerbase\u00a0has also allegedly spent the equivalent of 15,000 years playing the game. It’s another impressive lineup of statistics that prove\u00a0Valheim <\/em>has quickly\u00a0become one of this year’s most prevalent sleeper hits, finding the same success as indie games like\u00a0Fall Guys<\/a>, Phasmophobia,\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Among Us.<\/em><\/p>\n

The\u00a0studio concludes its update by thanking players, highlighting how the five-person team has been motivated to continue evolving\u00a0Valheim\u00a0<\/em>due to the passionate support of its community. It will allegedly be sharing more with players in the coming months and hopes to offer a firm roadmap for the game going into 2021.\u00a0Valheim\u00a0<\/em>originally launched back on February 2<\/a>, quickly establishing itself as a significant force on the PC marketplace. It’s available to play now in early access, with Iron Gate working hard to fine-tune it into a bigger experience alongside feedback from fans.<\/p>\n

For those who aren’t acquainted with Valheim<\/em>, it’s a survival-focused online game set within a world inspired by Norse mythology. Players group together to endure\u00a0procedurally generated environments, having to battle against enemies, construct large settlements, and sail the seas in longships. The game allows up to 10 players to join in on its Viking adventures and has since found a large following on streaming sites due to its compelling gameplay. It\u00a0has also\u00a0dominated the very top of the\u00a0Steam charts ever since its release, beating out\u00a0the likes of\u00a0Outriders<\/a>, Rust, Grand Theft Auto 5, Persona 5 Strikers, Cyberpunk 2077,\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Nioh 2 – Complete Edition.<\/em><\/p>\n

The title has already gotten the creative juices flowing for a variety of players, the likes of which have created everything from Sauron’s\u00a0Tower from Lord of the Rings<\/em><\/a>\u00a0to Whiterun from\u00a0Skyrim.\u00a0<\/em>It’ll be interesting to see where its developers take the project next.<\/p>\n
