Resident Evil Village<\/strong><\/em> is bringing back\u00a0Resident Evil 7<\/em> protagonist Ethan Winters<\/a>, and one of the goals of the game is to further flesh out Ethan as a character. This time around, Winters will be attempting to save his daughter Rosemary, who has been kidnapped and taken to a mysterious rural European village. However, it doesn’t appear as though everything is as it seems, as Capcom has teased a big surprise for Ethan on his journey.<\/p>\n

Resident Evil Village<\/em><\/a> director Morimasa Sato said as much in an interview with EDGE magazine. During the interview, Sato teased, “The biggest surprise you could possibly imagine awaits Ethan Winters in this story.” Of course, to avoid spoiling the surprise for fans, Sato stopped short of providing specifics. To find out what this big surprise is, fans will simply have to play through\u00a0Resident Evil Village<\/em> when its release date rolls around in May.<\/p>\n

The EDGE magazine article on\u00a0Resident Evil Village<\/em> revealed some other interesting things about the survival-horror game. Evidently, some members of the development team wanted\u00a0Resident Evil Village<\/em> to be third-person instead of first-person. The argument they made was that it would allow for a “different kind of combat experience” when compared to\u00a0Resident Evil 7<\/em>, but the decision was ultimately made to keep\u00a0RE7<\/em>‘s first-person viewpoint<\/a> as it allowed the developers to better express Ethan’s “fear and desperation.”<\/p>\n

There should be plenty in\u00a0Resident Evil Village<\/em> to stress Ethan out and make his “fear and desperation” shine through. Sato said that fans shouldn’t underestimate\u00a0Resident Evil Village<\/em>‘s horror content<\/a> based on what’s been shown of the game so far. Apparently, the scariest and most horrifying scenes in\u00a0Resident Evil Village<\/em> are being kept secret until the game’s launch.<\/p>\n

With the\u00a0Resident Evil Village<\/em> release date so close, fans shouldn’t expect too many more deep dives into the game before launch. However, Capcom has said that a second\u00a0Resident Evil Village<\/em> demo is on the way, so fans should be able to expect that at some point between now and the game’s May 7 launch. Whether it’s a completely new demo or simply the\u00a0Maiden demo<\/a> being ported to other platforms is unclear at the time of this writing, however.<\/p>\n

More details on the next\u00a0Resident Evil Village<\/em> demo<\/a> should come to light in the weeks ahead. However,\u00a0Resident Evil<\/em> fans shouldn’t expect any hints about what this “big surprise” for Ethan Winters. They’ll have to play the game to find out.<\/p>\n
