Yet, years before these gadgets was the Wii MotionPlus; a device that was pretty sophisticated in its own right.<\/p>\n<p>Just a few years after Wii&#8217;s launch, Nintendo was looking to stay ahead of the motion control-game with their next generation of Wiimote tech. Enter this peripheral from 2009 &#8211; which was incorporated into its own pre-loaded Wiimote a year later.<\/p>\n<p>Though it tends\u00a0to get overshadowed by <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/switch\/\">Switch<\/a>&#8216;s high-tech Joy-Cons, Wii MotionPlus added some dimension to the Wii&#8217;s more basic motion control without requiring new hardware.\u00a0It allowed for smoother, more detailed 3D movements that could be measured in a relative spot in virtual space. But while it has the simplicity akin to a freemium mobile game, it does serve its purpose as a fun little demonstration of the more refined motion. <em>FlingSmash\u00a0<\/em>taps into that appealing pick-up-and-play sensibility of early Wii games with its arcade-style charm.<\/p>\n<p>The gameplay\u00a0takes on the feel of a virtual pinball-meets-paddleball romp with its barrage of collectible goodies and ricochet physics. Studio Artoon tasks players with firing off their spherical character Zip, as he soars and bounces\u00a0through side-scrolling screens while nabbing goodies. This amusing bundled software<em>\u00a0<\/em>proves joyful and appealing despite being on the passive side.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">9 <\/span>The Conduit 2<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static0.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/The-Conduit-2-Wii-Motion-Plus.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Studio High Voltage Software seemingly came out of nowhere in 2009, with their announcement of an all-new exclusive FPS game on Wii,\u00a0<em>The Conduit<\/em>. This sci-fi alien shooter would fill a needed gap for online FPS romps on the console, while showcasing relatively detailed graphic effects using\u00a0their Quantum3 engine.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, the game also utilized the Wii&#8217;s pointer controls; a mechanic which proved a bit spotty on account of its\u00a0lack of MotionPlus support.<\/p>\n<p>But while this 2011 sequel garnered mixed reception, the\u00a0studio was able to hone their Wii development chops and utilize the MotionPlus to their advantage, offering smoother, more precise controls and added flexibility to input options. At the same time,\u00a0<em>The Conduit 2<\/em>\u00a0also shines with more dynamic gameplay and richer visuals, 12-player online fights, and a thrilling new co-op mode.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">8 <\/span>Rage Of The Gladiator<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Rage-of-the-Gladiator-Wii-Motion-Plus.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Though this brawler tends to get overlooked for being a rather simple <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/wiiware\/\">WiiWare game<\/a>,\u00a0<em>Rage of the Gladiator\u00a0<\/em>quietly excels with its intuitive use of Wii MotionPlus, which fits the simulated first-person style like a glove. Still, it seemed fitting to include this overlooked gem from Sandlot, on account of its thrilling action and solid use of MotionPlus.<\/p>\n<p>Despite its Japanese roots, the game\u00a0runs with\u00a0colorful fantasy themes inspired by Norse mythology,\u00a0complete with trolls and warrior deities. Players can take control of either the melee-based Freyr or arrow-shooting Freya; both of whom are fun to play in their own way.<\/p>\n<p><em>Zangeki\u00a0<\/em>excels in its refined MotionPlus support, which\u00a0smoothly mimics the actions of the player in real-time. Though it also captivates with its fun themes and\u00a0action-RPG\u00a0gameplay.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">6 <\/span>Wii Play: Motion<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Wii-Play-Motion.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>This sequel to the &#8217;06 hit\u00a0<em>Wii Play<\/em>\u00a0taps into\u00a0the fun, appealing essence of that party game and amps it up with a new batch of\u00a0MotionPlus\u00a0minigames starring user-made Miis.<\/p>\n<p>Fans of the first entry may recognize revamped versions of &#8220;Pose Mii&#8221; and &#8220;Shooting Range,&#8221;\u00a0though various entertaining\u00a0additions help round things out. These romps\u00a0range from unicycle riding to stone skipping and even space station assembly.<\/p>\n<p>Although online gameplay is still absent here,\u00a0<em>Wii Play: Motion<\/em>\u00a0dials<em>\u00a0<\/em>up the excitement with the inclusion of four-player showdowns this time.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">5 <\/span>Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Tiger-Woods-PGA-Tour-10-Wii-Motion-Plus.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Sports titles of the non-<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nintendo-mario-best-worst-sport-games\/\"><em>Mario<\/em>\u00a0variety<\/a>\u00a0often tend to\u00a0get overlooked on Nintendo consoles.\u00a0Still, the promise of sophisticated motion control can add some enticement, particularly in a golf title which seems tailor-made for the swinging motion-controls of the Wiimote.<\/p>\n<p>Though\u00a0a few\u00a0<em>Tiger Woods PGA\u00a0<\/em>entries\u00a0have appeared on Wii, this\u00a0one&#8217;s\u00a0considered a real &#8220;hole-in-one&#8221; with its balance of simple, intuitive controls and detailed golf-sim gameplay.\u00a0<em>PGA Tour 10\u00a0<\/em>allows players to showcase their golfing chops with a smooth, authentic feel to the motion controls, even allowing for subtle\u00a0curve shots. Though the re-release looks to utilize the Joy-Cons to its advantage, this 2011 original already offered some nicely refined swordplay and archery.<\/p>\n<p>This atmospheric\u00a0follow-up to\u00a0<em>Twilight Princess\u00a0<\/em>largely brought the more sophisticated motion controls and combat many fans were hoping for in <strong>that<\/strong> game.<\/p>\n<p>Though it may not be the open-world epic\u00a0<em>Breath of the Wild\u00a0<\/em>is, this Wii swan-song has its own charm &#8211; with its blend of action, adventure, clever puzzles, and a gripping story to boot. All of this rounds out <em>Skyward Sword<\/em>&#8216;s vast campaign of almost 40 hours.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">1 <\/span>Wii Sports Resort<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static2.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Wii-Sports-Resort-Frisbee.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>This <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nintendo-wii-games-deserve-sequels-dont\/\">renowned sequel<\/a> had some big shoes to fill, given the social gaming phenom that was 2006&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Wii Sports<\/em>. To the delight of Wii gamers, this tropical-themed sequel managed to live up to the hype. <em>Resort\u00a0<\/em>adheres to the same appealing formula and expands on it, reminding fans of the series&#8217; unique charm and appeal.<\/p>\n<p>Just as\u00a0<em>Wii Sports\u00a0<\/em>showcased the then-new Wiimote, this &#8217;09 sequel nicely highlights the smoother, more dynamic controls of MotionPlus.
