Combining quirky anime tropes with challenging tactical RPG gameplay, the\u00a0<em>Disgaea<\/em> series had enjoyed almost 20 years of success, with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/disgaea-6-defiance-of-destiny\/\"><em>Disgaea 6<\/em><\/a> right around the corner for western audiences.<\/p>\n<p>A Switch-exclusive title for the western market,\u00a0<em>Disgaea 6<\/em> marked a departure from the first five titles as it switches from its traditional sprite artwork to &#8220;chibi-style&#8221; 3D renders of the characters. The gameplay that the\u00a0<em>Disgaea<\/em> is known for, including its absurdly high level and damage cap, remains intact <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/disgaea-6-defiance-of-destiny-reveal-trailer\/\">although <em>Disgaea 6\u00a0<\/em>is developed with newcomers in mind<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/new-game-plus-expo-returns-march\/\">New Game Plus Expo Returns in March<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A trailer announcing bonus content for\u00a0<em>Disgaea 6<\/em> was released by NIS America today, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/every-nis-america-game-coming-2021\/\">following a word from the president of NIS<\/a> and creator of the\u00a0<em>Disgaea\u00a0<\/em>series,\u00a0Sohei Niikawa. Dressed in\u00a0a Prinny outfit, the mascot of the\u00a0<em>Disgaea<\/em> series, Niikawa reflects on the series 18-year history. Humbled by the success of the series, he admits that\u00a0<em>Disgaea<\/em> was never expected to be successful outside of Japan much less see a release outside of the region.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"200\" height=\"113\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Y-jLEXywq0g?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The surprise success of the original and its subsequent titles encouraged him and his staff to continue pushing the series towards the western market as they begin work on <em>Disgaea 7\u00a0<\/em>onward.\u00a0The bonus content featured in the latter half of the trailer marks the return of\u00a0<em>Disgaea 2\u00a0<\/em>protagonists Adell and Rozalin. Girl Laharl, first featured in\u00a0<em>Disgaea D2<\/em>, and Asagi, a character featured prominently in several NIS titles, were also announced.
