Valheim<\/em><\/strong> may challenge players to survive a dangerous purgatory as they try to prove their worth and enter Valhalla, but at least it doesn’t ask them to go it alone. Not only can players join their friends<\/a> for all manner of adventures, but they can also tame wolves, earning a loyal companion who will accompany them on journeys and protect them from enemies.<\/p>\n

The first step to taming a wolf in Valheim<\/a><\/em> is to find one, which means players will need to make their way to the mountainous regions of the map. This means leveling up quite a bit, getting good weapons and armor, and building up a homestead with plenty of resources. Getting a wolf is not easy, and trying to turn one into a new friend too soon is a guaranteed way to die.<\/p>\n

The mountains in Valheim<\/em> are deathly cold, so frost resistance potions are vitally important for any expedition in the region. Taming wolves works similarly to taming boars<\/a>, although the wolf is a far more dangerous creature to try and make friends with. When players arrive in the mountains, it is best to start sneaking around, carefully looking out for wolves that roam the areas. Upon finding one, players should back off and dig a pit, covering it with wooden flooring. This will act as a trap for the wolf, and players can try to lure the wolf by offering themselves as bait.<\/p>\n

Players can venture just close enough to the wolf so that it comes after them, then run and stand on the far side of the pit, removing the wooden flooring. The wolf will run straight at them, falling into the pit and becoming trapped. After the wolf falls in the pit, players can toss in plenty of raw meat then back off to give the wolf some space. It will eventually calm down and eat the meat, becoming tame after it eats enough. It should be noted that the pit method is also a good way to trap any wolves that players need to farm to make the Wolf Armor<\/a>\u00a0should players dislike the idea of breeding and then killing their own wolves.<\/p>\n

When the wolf has eaten enough and becomes tame, players can dig a slope down to the pit. The creature will walk to them, and they will now have a new friend. While it may take some time to gather up enough wolves to pit 50 of them against the final boss<\/a>, most players are likely to be happy with two, as this will allow them to breed more. To breed wolves, players can drop some meat for two tame wolves, then give them a little space to make a baby wolf appear.<\/p>\n
