Essentially being\u00a0launched to an online world,\u00a0<em>Valorant\u00a0<\/em>has had to rely on online competitive events so far. That looks set to change as Riot Games has announced an international LAN event as part of its 2021 <em>Valorant<\/em> Champions Tour.<\/p>\n<p>Riot Games may have always intended for <em>Valorant<\/em> to become its next superstar esport, but 2021 will prove whether or not it sticks. In 2020, Riot Games\u00a0was able to host its first official tournament for the game,\u00a0and fans saw <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/100-thieves-valorant-first-strike-tournament\/\">100 Thieves win\u00a0<em>Valorant<\/em> First Strike<\/a>.\u00a0Throughout 2021, <em>Valorant<\/em> will host official online tournaments that lead into three different <em>Valorant<\/em> Masters stages. Teams that place at\u00a0Masters events will earn points going to the end-of-year capstone event, <em>Valorant <\/em>Champions 2021.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/valorant-astra-bug\/\">Valorant Players Discover Game-Breaking Astra Bug<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>To many players&#8217; surprise,\u00a0<em>Valorant<\/em> announced that the VCT Masters Stage 2 event will be hosted in\u00a0Reykjav\u00edk, Iceland. This international tournament will feature top teams of <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pro-gamer-quits-overwatch-for-valorant\/\">pro <em>Valorant<\/em> players<\/a>\u00a0from around the world, competing together for the first time in\u00a0<em>Valorant<\/em>&#8216;s first LAN competition. Since the competition will run on offline game servers, there will be a virtually lag-free experience for teams. The top two teams each from North America, Brazil, and Europe will compete, while the top team each from Korea, Japan, Latin America, and Southeast Asia will compete.<\/p>\n<p>This\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/valorant\">Valorant<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>event will take place in the\u00a0Laugardalsh\u00f6ll venue in Reykjav\u00edk, Iceland from May 24 to May 30. Apparently, all teams will have to quarantine once they arrive in Iceland, which is for the best since it will be an in-person competition. Unfortunately for fans, the competition will not have a live audience, so supporters will need to wait for more information on how to watch online.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"200\" height=\"113\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/O1NiVLof2Q8?start=2&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Since the VCT Masters Stage 2 will feature teams from all over the world, it will be an interesting taste at what players can expect from the championship at the end of the year. With\u00a0<em>Valorant<\/em> investing heavily into the development of its esports scene, like with <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/valorant-game-changers-program\/\">the VCT Game Changers Program<\/a>, many fans can&#8217;t wait to see if\u00a0<em>Valorant<\/em> can keep the hype going.
