Coming four years after the last new numbered entry, Resident Evil Village<\/strong><\/em> seeks to merge two eras of Capcom’s beloved survival horror franchise. By applying the contemporary first-person\u00a0perspective of Resident Evil 7<\/em> with the aesthetic and gameplay\u00a0systems of Resident Evil 4<\/em>, its May release can’t come soon enough for fans. Apart from the gameplay of Resident Evil Village<\/em> showing traditional\u00a0design\u00a0choices<\/a>, it seems it will also be a throwback in terms of\u00a0regional differences.<\/p>\n

Capcom confirms that the Japanese version of Resident Evil Village<\/a><\/em> will have regional differences when compared to the European and North American\u00a0releases. The tweet announcing these changes was translated by Twitter user Alex Aniel, author of “Itchy, Tasty: An Unofficial History of Resident Evil<\/em>.” The notes list three distinct changes that will apply to the entirety of Resident Evil Village<\/em>‘s Japanese release.<\/p>\n

The first point notes that the Japanese version will not feature “decapitations.” Of the mentioned version differences, this is the most distinct and easily identifiable. Beheadings are nothing new to the franchise and likely stand as a reference to the Resident Evil<\/em> game most associated with Village<\/em>. In Resident Evil 4<\/em>, protagonist Leon S. Kennedy could notoriously have his head removed with a chainsaw<\/a>\u00a0in the game’s first big encounter. The second point mentions that overall, Japanese players will have a much less bloody experience in Resident Evil Village<\/em> when compared to the West. With both of these in mind, Resident Evil Village<\/em> will definitely be a much tamer experience in Japan.<\/p>\n
