Launching this summer,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/skyward-sword\/\"><em>The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD<\/em><\/a> will deliver the same adventure that fans remember from the original game, but with some improved visuals and new control schemes.<\/p>\n<p>Even though\u00a0<em>The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword<\/em> earned near-universal critical acclaim when it launched for the Wii in 2011, the game is still somewhat controversial in the\u00a0<em>Zelda<\/em> community because of its motion controls and padding. However, those who <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/zelda-skyward-sword-hd-switch-motion-controls\/\">haven&#8217;t given\u00a0<em>Skyward Sword<\/em> a chance because of its motion controls<\/a> can rest easy knowing that the new version of the game makes motion controls optional. Beyond that, those who enjoyed\u00a0<em>The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild<\/em> may also want to give\u00a0<em>Skyward Sword<\/em>\u00a0a second look, as Nintendo has pointed out the ways that the Wii game directly inspired its popular successor.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/zelda-skyward-sword-hd-amazon-best-seller\/\">The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD is Already Amazon&#8217;s Best Seller<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword<\/em> is like a classic\u00a0<em>Zelda<\/em> game in terms of structure, and it certainly does not have the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/zelda-future-games-open-world-standard\/\"><em>Breath of the Wild<\/em>-style open world<\/a>. However, various gameplay features in\u00a0<em>Skyward Sword<\/em> laid the groundwork for what was to come in\u00a0<em>Breath of the Wild<\/em>, as pointed out by Nintendo in a recent tweet. In the tweet, Nintendo shared some images of\u00a0<em>The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD<\/em> while drawing attention to how some of its gameplay features led directly into\u00a0<em>Breath of the Wild<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NintendoAmerica\/status\/1367934487217201163\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This includes the stamina meter, which is <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/zelda-breath-of-the-wild-infinite-horse-stamina\/\">used in both\u00a0<em>Breath of the Wild<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Skyward Sword<\/em><\/a> to gauge actions like Link climbing up walls. Not only that, but\u00a0<em>The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword<\/em> also introduced the concept of upgrading equipment, which was virtually unheard of in\u00a0<em>Zelda<\/em> games up to that point, but was a major focus of\u00a0<em>Breath of the Wild<\/em>. Link is also able to use a sailcloth for gliding purposes in\u00a0<em>Skyward Sword<\/em>, which is another feature that was used in\u00a0<em>Breath of the Wild<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The screenshots shared by Nintendo showcase some of these features in action, like\u00a0<em>Skyward Sword<\/em>&#8216;s weapon upgrade system and the stamina meter. When one considers that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/zelda-breath-of-the-wild-metacritic-review-scores-record\/\"><em>The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild<\/em> is one of the highest-rated games of all time<\/a>, it makes sense that Nintendo is trying to get people to associate it with\u00a0<em>Skyward Sword<\/em>, though it must be stressed that\u00a0<em>Skyward Sword<\/em> is still a very different kind of\u00a0<em>Zelda<\/em> experience.
