Other than the many\u00a0Atlus\u00a0games like\u00a0<em>Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight<\/em> or\u00a0<em>Catherine<\/em><em>: Full Body<\/em>, Joker (and other Phantom Thieves, in some cases) has appeared in numerous other third-party games. He was a playable DLC character in\u00a0<em>Super Smash Bros. Ultimate<\/em>, a playable character in games like\u00a0<em>Granblue Fantasy<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Another Eden<\/em>, among many other mobile crossovers. Now, &#8220;rumors&#8221; and &#8220;leaks&#8221; have started to churn about Joker joining\u00a0<strong><em>Fortnite<\/em><\/strong>, even though fans believing these rumors is arguably warranted.<\/p>\n<p>Considering the Phantom Thieves&#8217; most iconic leader has seemingly debuted in various other games, bringing him to the evergreen battle royale doesn&#8217;t seem too far-fetched.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/fortnite\/\"><em>Fortnite<\/em><\/a> has been making a licensed-content party out of its latest Season 5, bringing in characters from Disney&#8217;s\u00a0<em>The Mandalorian<\/em> to Capcom&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Street Fighter<\/em>. The overall bounty hunter theme has opened up the game to a ton of crossovers, a foundation with which\u00a0<em>Persona 5<\/em> seemingly wouldn&#8217;t be exempt from, so many figured leaks were true. Wouldn&#8217;t be the first time an upcoming\u00a0<em>Fortnite<\/em> crossover was leaked, but this particular\u00a0<em>Persona 5<\/em> crossover is the subject of an elaborate meme.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/persona-5-strikers-sophia\/\">Persona 5 Strikers&#8217; Sophia is a Real Game-Changer<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AtIus_West\/status\/1366538747509006340?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Of course, it was joke-Tweets akin to this one that baited plenty of fans, both in and outside of the\u00a0<em>Persona<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Fortnite<\/em> fanbases, into believing this news was true. The perfect storm of multiple\u00a0crossovers for Joker and\u00a0<em>Persona 5<\/em> with other media, as well as\u00a0<em>Fortnite<\/em>&#8216;s propensity for including crossovers of all kinds, led to this rumor. However, clever posters like this one stoked the flames by borrowing art from existing crossovers, with that tweet in particular borrowing the art from Joker&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Catherine: Full Body<\/em> crossover. Most seasoned fans of\u00a0<em>Persona<\/em> quickly caught on that this was a hoax, before the account itself <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/fortnite-joker-skin-last-laugh-bundle-poison-ivy-midas-rex\/\">jokingly replied with the\u00a0<em>Fortnite<\/em>\/<em>DC<\/em> Joker trailer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Another less &#8220;viral&#8221; tweet with images of\u00a0<em>Persona 5<\/em>-themed\u00a0<em>Fortnite<\/em> items started making the rounds as well, but they were all pretty clearly doctored\u00a0images. Made to look like leaks, blurry images of assets and artwork tricked another few into believing it was true, if only briefly. In fairness to any fans who did believe any of these rumors, if Atlus and Sega not set a precedent with previous crossovers, then the faked images would&#8217;ve been much less believable. Not to say Joker wouldn&#8217;t be <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/fortnites-emote-shanty-tik-tok-trend\/\">a strangely awesome addition to\u00a0<em>Fortnite<\/em>&#8216;s roster<\/a>, but the likelihood of any rumors surrounding an actual\u00a0<em>Persona 5\u00a0<\/em>x\u00a0<em>Fortnite<\/em> crossover is basically slim to none currently.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/epic-games-fall-guys-acquisition-big-deal-support-crossover-fortnite\/\">Epic Games&#8217; Fall Guys Acquisition is a Big Deal<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/Super-Smash-Bros-Ultimate-Joker-Persona-5-DLC.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>In a more granular sense, there are plenty of thematic and potential logistical reasons why Joker probably wouldn&#8217;t be suited to join the battle royale.<em>\u00a0Fortnite<\/em>&#8216;s current season is all based around the theme of various agents\u00a0joining\u00a0&#8220;the hunt,&#8221; which isn&#8217;t exactly the Phantom Thieves&#8217; modus operandi as gentleman thieves. Even more specifically, every single character that&#8217;s joined\u00a0<em>Fortnite<\/em> as part of Season 5&#8217;s many crossovers have been from western media.\u00a0Kratos, Master Chief, Sarah Connor, The Mandalorian, The Walking Dead, Snake Eyes, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/fortnite-crossover-season-mandalorian-alien-street-fighter\/\">even Ripley from\u00a0<em>Alien<\/em><\/a>, these are all characters from or based on American games, films, shows, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Plus,\u00a0<em>Persona 5<\/em> has already had its\u00a0biggest crossover yet with\u00a0<em>Super Smash Bros. Ultimate<\/em>, where character diversity is far more varied. Atlus has a history with injecting\u00a0<em>Persona<\/em> characters into fighting games like\u00a0<em>Persona 4 Arena<\/em>, so it makes sense Joker ended up in a fighting game first. Considering Arc System Works\u00a0was\u00a0likely busy with several fighting games in development, instead of dedicating an entire fighting game for <em>Persona 5<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/super-smash-bros-ultimate-spirits-persona-5-strikers-ghost-n-goblins\/\">Joker joined the\u00a0<em>Super Smash Bros. Ultimate<\/em> roster<\/a>.
