Remedy Entertainment\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>is currently\u00a0working on several different projects, with the studio split into four teams\u00a0developing\u00a0five games. The developers behind\u00a0Control<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>have started work on a new AAA project, while a second team is hard at work on an action-packed sequel to\u00a0Crossfire\u00a0<\/em>known as\u00a0CrossfireX,\u00a0<\/em>and a third is developing\u00a0Vanguard,\u00a0<\/em>which will allegedly be an ambitious free-to-play co-op title.<\/p>\n

A fourth team is working on two unannounced projects, with both games being developed for console and PC in collaboration with Epic Games. Although there are few details on what the two titles will be about, a new interview between GamesIndustry.biz and Remedy Entertainment<\/a> CEO Tero\u00a0Virtala has shed more light on the\u00a0mysterious projects.<\/p>\n

According to the publication, Virtala spoke very briefly about the scope and narrative of both games, clarifying that they\u00a0“are\u00a0set in a shared universe.” Allegedly, one will be a large-scale, AAA title and the other a smaller experience, with the team wanting to create an IP that they can revisit through multiple releases. “With the project we’re doing with Epic, it’s in a world we want players to spend more time in,” Virtala claims during the interview, going on to\u00a0reveal that Remedy\u00a0hopes to continue\u00a0exploring “the world and the brand” through more than one release.<\/p>\n

The idea of pursuing this ambitious new IP appears to check off another goal Remedy is\u00a0aiming to achieve, with Virtala telling GamesIndustry.biz that\u00a0the studio\u00a0intends\u00a0to build multiple expanding brands going forward. The pair of\u00a0shared universe projects definitely appear to fit that bill. Meanwhile,\u00a0Remedy hopes its new live-service cooperative game\u00a0Vanguard<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>will also develop into an expansive, long-running brand that it can continue to cultivate post-launch.<\/p>\n

The interview delves deeper into exactly what Remedy intends to build with the\u00a0Vanguard\u00a0<\/em>project, claiming it will look to offer an innovative take on the co-op shooter that lifts the genre to new heights. Players also know that\u00a0the company is working on a new\u00a0release\u00a0set\u00a0in both the\u00a0Control\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Alan Wake\u00a0<\/em>universe<\/a>, continuing both\u00a0franchises’ stories following their official merger in\u00a0Control’s AWE\u00a0<\/em>DLC last year. There’s no word on when the game will hit shelves, although considering\u00a0Control\u00a0<\/em>released in 2019, it’s likely not on the cards anytime soon.\u00a0CrossfireX\u00a0<\/em>appears to be\u00a0the next major release for the team, with the\u00a0high-octane\u00a0first-person shooter slated to\u00a0debut sometime later this year. The title is a sequel to\u00a0Crossfire,\u00a0<\/em>returning to the franchise’s world while bringing the explosive brand of combat Remedy has become known for.<\/p>\n
