As the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X\/S settle in, many games are being re-released on them with additional upgrades. Days Gone<\/em> and Final Fantasy 7 Remake<\/em> are two of the highest profile Sony exclusives coming to PS5, and other games like Crash Bandicoot 4<\/em> and Tony Hawk\u2019s Pro Skater 1 + 2<\/em> are also on the way. However, there are still a few notable absences from the PlayStation 5\u2019s re-release lineup<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Death Stranding<\/em><\/strong> and Bloodborne<\/em><\/strong>, two of the PS4\u2019s biggest exclusive, have gone noticeably unmentioned whenever a round of remasters is announced. Death Stranding<\/em> is notable for its presence on PC as well, making a lack of PS5 news curious. Fans have also been yearning for a Bloodborne<\/em><\/a> PC port or any kind of remaster that fixes its framerate, but there hasn\u2019t been any firm news on either. However, there\u2019s reason to believe that these games have gone silent for the same reason Final Fantasy 7 Remake<\/em> did during the past year: a port with more content is in the works.<\/p>\n

Rumor has it that some\u00a0form of Death Stranding<\/em>\u00a0extended edition<\/a> is in the works for PlayStation 5. Renowned ResetEra insider Navtra hinted there may be a new way to play Death Stranding<\/em> in the near future, stating that it might be worth waiting a little bit if players are interested in returning to the game. Another user asked about the possibility of an extended edition and Navtra confirmed it, making it likely it won’t be a free upgrade due to new story content.<\/p>\n

Considering how gorgeous Death Stranding<\/em> already looks and Kojima\u2019s preference for his games looking as good as possible, an upgraded PS5 version makes a lot of sense, and\u00a0Death Stranding<\/em> in particular would be one of best games to show off the DualSense\u2019s advanced rumble technology<\/a>. Upon further questioning, Navtra claimed that this new version had been finished for a little while and had been expected to show up at the recent State of Play, so if these rumors are true, fans can expect an announcement very soon.<\/p>\n

However, the presence of this plausible rumor makes the silence around Bloodborne<\/em> all the stranger. Sure, From Software is busy with Elden Ring<\/em> right now, yet\u00a0Sony can tap a number of other\u00a0developers to give the game the frame pacing fix fans have been begging for (and even patching into Bloodborn<\/em>e themselves)<\/a>. It\u2019s a very successful game, so it\u2019s in Sony\u2019s best interests to do something with it. All of this combined with the rumors and realities of upgraded re-releases for PS4 exclusives is starting to point towards Bloodborne<\/em> being released with new content, at least speculatively speaking.<\/p>\n

Bloodborne<\/em> has already received an expansion in the form of the Old Hunters DLC, which From Software once stated was two separate DLC areas merged into one. However, as digging into Bloodborne<\/em>‘s files and Chalice Dungeons showed<\/a>, there is still a lot of content left on the cutting room floor. Indeed, there very well could be enough to create an entirely new area. It could be a new part of Yharnam, situated just beyond the infamous door behind the Cleric Beast. There could even be an extended final boss battle featuring a strange version of the Moon Presence found in a hacked Chalice Dungeon. The possibilities are endless, assuming this upgraded port comes to pass.<\/p>\n

Sony and the PS5 still appears to have a fairly stacked year<\/a> ahead of it, with Days Gone<\/em> coming to Steam this Spring, Returnal<\/em> dropping in April, and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart<\/em> arriving in June. Even if upgraded re-releases of Death Stranding<\/em> and Bloodborne<\/em> can\u2019t join them in the first half of this year, there\u2019s still a chance they could show up over the next couple. Bloodborne<\/em> fans in particular would be overjoyed to give their game of choice another few runs, and hopefully, the silence now is a good thing long-term.<\/p>\n
