This year will be jam-packed with new titles from the\u00a0Star Wars<\/strong><\/em><\/a> universe. With several film and television projects set to release in the next few months, fans of the ever-growing franchise have a lot to look forward to. Up next to debut\u00a0on Disney+ is\u00a0Star Wars: The Bad Batch<\/em>, the highly-anticipated animated series about a group of genetically-mutated experimental clones. Aside from the fact that it will follow-up on the events that occurred in Star Wars:\u00a0<\/em>The Clone Wars<\/em>, one of the\u00a0most exciting things about the show is that it will feature a\u00a0fan-favorite character from The Mandalorian<\/em>: the mercenary sharpshooter Fennec Shand.<\/p>\n

In anticipation of the series’ debut, Lucasfilm dropped a first-look image at the animated version of Shand on their Instagram stories. Sporting the same black attire and trademark ponytail that she had in\u00a0The Mandalorian<\/a>, <\/em>the image received mixed reactions online, with some people questioning the ‘Tomb Raider-like’ quality of the animation.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, fans are still excited to see how Shand’s story will unfold in\u00a0The Bad Batch<\/em>. To recap, Shand was initially featured in Chapter 5 of\u00a0The Mandalorian<\/em>, where she first appeared to be a target for Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), the beskar-clad Mandalorian of the Bounty Hunters’ Guild. After a cat-and-mouse game that led to her apparent death at the hands of another bounty hunter named Toro Calican, she suddenly reappears later<\/a> in the series, seemingly resurrected from the dead and now working alongside Djarin to protect Grogu<\/a>, “The Child.”<\/p>\n

In comparison to that storyline,\u00a0The Bad Batch<\/em>\u00a0will\u00a0follow the exploits of a much younger Shand through the Dark Times when Emperor Palpatine was\u00a0still ruler. The series will follow\u00a0The Clone Wars<\/em>,\u00a0which was set after the events in\u00a0Revenge of the Sith<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em>Ming-Na Wen, the same actress who portrayed Shand in\u00a0The Mandalorian<\/em>, will lend her voice to the animated version of Shand.<\/p>\n

Additionally, she is also set to make appearances in another\u00a0Star Wars\u00a0<\/em>project titled\u00a0The Book of Boba Fett<\/em>, which will be set within the timeline of\u00a0The Mandalorian<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0A post-credits scene pictured Boba Fett and Fennec Shand occupying Jabba’s former palace, so the story could be about the duo’s goal to seize power on Tatooine.\u00a0Temuera Morrison will return to the Star Wars\u00a0<\/em>universe to\u00a0play the titular hero, carrying his legacy forward into a new generation for the franchise.<\/p>\n

Star Wars: The Bad Batch<\/strong><\/em> will debut on Disney+\u00a0on May 4.<\/p>\n
