The latest <em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/dragon-ball-z-kakarot\/\">Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot<\/a><\/em> DLC, set to launch Summer 2021, takes place 13 years after the Android saga as Trunks and Gohan prepare to battle Android 17 and 18.<\/p>\n<p>After months of fan speculation, an official trailer for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/new-dragon-ball-z-kakarot-screenshot-dlc-3-content\/\">upcoming <em>Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot<\/em> DLC<\/a> debuted at the end of the <em>Dragonball FighterZ<\/em>\u2019s Battle Hour tournament. Starting around 2:11:21, <em>Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot<\/em>\u2019s producer Ryosuke Hara introduces the first footage of Trunks: The Warrior of Hope DLC. The trailer begins with the death of Goku, followed by the defeat of the rest of Earth\u2019s greatest warriors at the hands of Androids 17 and 18. It concludes with a shot of the presumed heroes of the story, Trunks and Gohan.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"related-single\">RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/dragon-ball-z-kakarot-world-flight-new-mode-images-hint\/\">New Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Images Hint at &#8216;World Flight&#8217; Mode<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot<\/em> has been fully embraced by fans despite the game\u2019s lukewarm reception from critics. Bandai Namco\u2019s latest action RPG in the long <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/dragon-ball-z-kakarot-passes-1-5-million-units-sold\/\"><em>Dragon Ball <\/em>franchise surpassed 1.5 million units<\/a> sold in its first week alone. While the game\u2019s ambitious scale won over the hearts of many players, this same ambition seems to have slowed the development of its DLC episodes to a snail\u2019s pace.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"200\" height=\"113\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1T6VNvjKBvY?start=8024&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Content updates have been few and far between since <em>Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot<\/em>\u2019s release, leaving players frustrated by the slow progress. After a seven-month gap between DLC 1 and DLC 2, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/dragon-ball-z-kakarot-dlc-3-news-when\/\">the silence regarding <em>Kakarot\u00a0<\/em>DLC 3<\/a> ignited fan speculation and frustration. Though Bandai Namco\u2019s trailer has finally shed some light regarding the conclusion to the game\u2019s season pass, the Summer 2021 release window places the launch of its third DLC at around another seven months since DLC 2.<\/p>\n<p>The poor reception to <em>Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot<\/em>\u2019s DLC releases has as much to do with a lack of content as it does the delayed release windows. The game\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/dragon-ball-z-kakarot-dlc-1-breakdown\/\">first DLC failed to meet fan expectations<\/a>, as it favored boss battle episodes rather than original story content. The second DLC, A New Power Awakens \u2013 Part 2, followed a similar pattern of training for an explosive boss fight. The boss fights have proven challenging and engaging, but many fans had hoped that the DLC content might expand on stories through new characters and events.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Future-Trunks-vs-Androids-17-and-18.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>While the third DLC provides fans with a fun trip back to the Android saga, players will hopefully get an opportunity to explore new story content that doesn\u2019t involve intense training before a climactic boss fight with Androids 17 and 18. Fingers are crossed that <em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/dragon-ball-z-kakarot-second-season-pass\/\">Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot<\/a><\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/dragon-ball-z-kakarot-second-season-pass\/\"> gets a second season pass<\/a> that amends the mistakes of its predecessor.
