The ad features new footage and a pretty good look at <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/zack-snyder-justice-league-darkseid-mcfarlane\/\">the movie&#8217;s main villain, Darkseid.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Darkseid is one of DC&#8217;s\u00a0biggest and most ruthless villains. He&#8217;s been around in the comics for decades and even\u00a0served as the inspiration for one of Marvel&#8217;s main\u00a0supervillains,\u00a0the mad\u00a0titan Thanos. Created by comics legend Jack Kirby, Darkseid is the tyrannical ruler of the desolate planet Apokolips. He seeks to conquer the universe and eliminate all hope and free will by attempting to unravel the\u00a0Anti-Life Equation: a transcendental mathematical formula that gives its user complete control over all living beings.\u00a0Darkseid was originally created\u00a0to be the main antagonist in Kirby&#8217;s <em>Fourth World<\/em>\u00a0comics series\u00a0before becoming\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/zack-snyder-justice-league-superman-black-suit-warner-bros\/\">one of Superman&#8217;s biggest villains<\/a>\u00a0and a reoccurring\u00a0antagonist\u00a0for the <em>Justice League.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"related-single\">RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/snyder-cut-gets-teaser-flash\/\">Snyder Cut Flash Teaser Hints At Time Travel In The Hero&#8217;s Future<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the 30-second promo for <em>Zack Snyder&#8217;s Justice League<\/em>, Darkseid, played\u00a0by actor Ray Porter, menacingly narrates over the footage. We see him sitting on a\u00a0throne as he\u00a0laments that he has turned &#8220;100,000 worlds to dust&#8221; looking for those who robbed him\u00a0of his\u00a0glory. He then goes on to threaten that he will &#8220;stride across their bones&#8221;\u00a0before finally declaring that all of existence will be his. Sounds like a pretty bad guy.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"200\" height=\"113\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/U-whkeJMCic?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Some of the footage in this promo shows a scene that was briefly featured in the 2017 theatrical release of <em>Justice League<\/em>, where Darkseid&#8217;s army of Parademons and <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/justice-league-steppenwolf-armor-new-look\/\">his chief enforcer Steppenwolf <\/a>(Ciaran Hinds) attempted to conquer earth thousands of years ago. During this invasion, Steppenwolf and his army used three &#8216;Mother Boxes,&#8217; mysterious super-computers with incredible power.\u00a0The\u00a0invasion was foiled by an alliance of Amazons, Olympian Gods, Atlanteans, and extraterrestrial allies.<\/p>\n<p>This coalition agreed to hide the three Mother Boxes in different locations on earth. In the 2017 release of <em>Justice League<\/em>, Steppenwolf returns to earth after the death of Superman (Henry Cavill) to seek out the Mother Boxes. In that film, the Mother Boxes are shown to possess incredible power. They are used to resurrect Superman and one of them was used to turn <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/cyborg-comic-writer-justice-league-ray-fisher\/\">Victor Stone into the hero Cyborg (Ray Fisher)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A key difference with <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/snyder-cut-chapter-titles\/\">Snyder&#8217;s four-hour re-release\u00a0of <em>Justice League<\/em><\/a> is that Darkseid seems to have\u00a0actually been present during\u00a0the invasion thousands of years ago, and based on his narration in the ad, he\u00a0seems pretty upset about how it went. In the 2017 release of the film, Darkseid only alluded to\u00a0and Steppenwolf served as the primary antagonist. However,\u00a0in the Snyder cut, Darkseid will take on the role of the main bad guy.
