Although the developers behind the game went dark on the ports, fans of\u00a0Rust\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>have known the popular online game would be making its way to consoles<\/a> since 2019. It’s recently been teasing that these new versions are closer to completion than ever, and today, it appears a firm release window has finally been confirmed.<\/p>\n

According to a press release from Double Eleven,\u00a0Rust<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>will be making its debut this Spring, bringing the game’s action-packed survival sim gameplay to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A specific release date hasn’t\u00a0officially been confirmed, although seeing as Spring\u00a0is\u00a0fast approaching,\u00a0both ports seem\u00a0likely to launch\u00a0sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n

The console version of the game recently entered beta, with Facepunch Studios distributing keys to a select number of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players. The\u00a0multiplayer test is a strong sign that the team is getting ready to drop the ports in the coming months, especially if reactions to the console versions are positive. For those who missed it, the studio also revealed a short trailer for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ports last week<\/a>, showing that little will change\u00a0through\u00a0Rust’s<\/em>\u00a0transition from\u00a0<\/em>PC to consoles. The teaser came loaded with chaotic gunfights, post-apocalyptic weapons, and hectic multiplayer gameplay.<\/p>\n

The pair of new\u00a0Rust\u00a0<\/em>ports couldn’t come at a better time, with the online survival sim recently launching back to prominence on Steam. It has made itself a fixture of the storefront’s weekly best sellers list, while streamers such as JackSepticEye and xQc have elevated\u00a0it back to the top of Twitch in recent months. Some of the livestreaming platform’s biggest staples even started a server on the game known as OfflineTV, which gave rise to plenty of fun collaborations. Although the idea has been a big draw for\u00a0Rust<\/em>, it has created controversy, with the likes of Pokimane<\/a>, Sodapoppin, and more quitting the server due to tension between its players.<\/p>\n

Regardless,\u00a0Rust\u00a0<\/a><\/em>has managed to become a major player on Steam once again<\/a> and is seemingly aiming to spread that\u00a0success to PlayStation and Xbox. For those who’ve never played the game,\u00a0Rust\u00a0<\/em>drops players into a desolate and unforgiving post-apocalyptic landscape with the goal of surviving at any cost. They have to scavenge for resources, build bases, and\u00a0team-up to survive, all the while\u00a0being wary of other players who may be looking to loot their supplies.<\/p>\n

Rust\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>is out now on PC, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions launching this Spring.<\/p>\n
