A\u00a0recent piece of\u00a0fan art suggested that\u00a0<em>The Boys star\u00a0<\/em>Antony Starr should play the mutant in the MCU.<\/p>\n<p>Starr plays the devious Homelander in <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/the-boys-video-game-jack-quaid\/\">Amazon Prime\u2019s\u00a0<em>The Boys<\/em><\/a><em>,\u00a0<\/em>a\u00a0Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg-produced series based on the comic book with the same name. The show follows a group of corrupt superheroes\u00a0who abuse their powers for wealth and fame. The large ensemble cast includes Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Erin Moriarty as Annie January, and Chace Crawford as the Deep. Last year,\u00a0<em>Supernatural<\/em>\u2019s Jensen Ackles was cast to play Soldier Boy in the upcoming third season.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/x-men\/\">10 Hilarious X-Men Memes That Prove The Movies Make No Sense<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Before\u00a0<em>The Boys<\/em>, Starr was best known for playing an ex-con and master thief in the <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/banshee-show-original-ending-details-revealed-jonathan-tropper\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">critically acclaimed Cinemax series\u00a0<em>Banshee<\/em><\/a>. The gritty show, which ran from 2013-2016, was created by Jonathan Tropper and David Schickler. It followed a man (Starr) who adopts a new identity after being released from prison. <em>Banshee<\/em> was released on HBO Max this past February.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CMAKoIhnEBR\/\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Popular freelance artist Aitesam Farooq recently posted <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/taron-egerton-wolverine-fan-art\/\">a hyper-realistic art piece<\/a> that imagines Starr as the Wolverine. In the image, Starr has Wolverine\u2019s signature sideburns and is wearing an outfit from the 2004 comic book series\u00a0<em>Astonishing X-Men<\/em>. Farooq asserts that Starr would make a great Wolverine based on his performance in\u00a0<em>Banshee<\/em>. The art piece went viral and even caught Starr\u2019s attention on Instagram, where the actor said, \u201cNote to self&#8230;learn how to grow pork chop sideburns!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hugh Jackman notably played Logan\/Wolverine in nine<em>\u00a0X-Men<\/em> films. The once indestructible character died in his daughter\u2019s arms in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/logan-hugh-jack-man-wolverine-mask\/\">director James Mangold&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Logan<\/em><\/a>. The film grossed $619 million on a $97 million budget and received an Academy Awards nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. Following the film\u2019s release, Jackman has stated numerous times that he will no longer play the iconic mutant. Of course,\u00a0Disney has since acquired the rights\u00a0to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/x-men-movies-wasted-ending\/\"><em>X-Men<\/em>\u00a0from 20th Century Fox,<\/a>\u00a0which means characters like the Wolverine, Human Torch, and Magneto can now be shown in the\u00a0Marvel Cinematic Universe.<\/p>\n<p>Marvel has yet to announce when the Wolverine will be introduced into the MCU and who will play the iconic role. Earlier this month, fans started an online petition to cast\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/petition-letterkenny-star-wolverine-mcu\/\"><em>Letterkenny<\/em>&#8216;s Jared Keeso\u00a0as Wolverine<\/a>. The petition is called &#8220;Disney needs to cast Jared Keeso as Wolverine should they reboot X-Men&#8221; and has almost 5,000 signatures.
