Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid<\/em><\/strong> series has proven to be one of the most influential game franchises of all time. The original game, famously dubbed as “Tactical Espionage Action” proved to be one of the most important games of 1998, one that would carry many future stealth games for some time. With this newfound fame, the series continued to evolve over the years, delivering boundary-pushing games until the final mainline entry in 2015’s Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Series creator Hideo Kojima announced his departure from Konami mid-development, which meant that Metal Gear Solid 5<\/em> became the series’ swansong. With Konami reportedly licensing out the Metal Gear<\/em> property, rumors of a Bluepoint remake for the Metal Gear Solid<\/em> series seem to line up pretty well. While that could very well turn out to be an inaccurate rumor, Bluepoint Games seems to be the perfect candidate for the job at hand.<\/p>\n

It’s no secret that Bluepoint Games is one of the best studios around the globe when it comes to remaking classic games. The studio has proved its excellence with the fantastic remake of the PS2 classic Shadow of the Colossus<\/em> for the PS4<\/a>. The studio’s latest project, the excellent remake of Demon’s Souls<\/em> for the PS5, became the first true next-gen title and an indication of what’s possible with the new hardware.<\/p>\n

In addition to this, Bluepoint Games has also worked on the Metal Gear Solid<\/em> series before, with the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection<\/em><\/a>. This package included remasters of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty<\/em>, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater<\/em>, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker<\/em>. Bluepoint’s prior experience with the games means that it theoretically wouldn’t be as daunting of a task when it comes to remaking these classics.<\/p>\n

Ever since the rumors sparked for a Metal Gear Solid<\/em> remake collection, a prominent chunk of the fanbase seems to be worried about such a possibility. In the spirit of keeping things as original as possible, fans have rooted for the cancellation of such a project in the past, if it even exists. If Bluepoint would be the one handling such a remake, it’s a given that a lot of similar concerns would be relieved.<\/p>\n

Bluepoint Games has shown an immense admiration for the source material. The Demon’s Souls<\/em> remake brought new weapon animations to the table, but the developers made sure that the animation frame data remained the same. When asked about the decision to change key elements such as the game’s notorious difficulty<\/a>, Bluepoint stated that it simply wasn’t its place to make such a decision in a remake.<\/p>\n

In a similar fashion, Bluepoint’s Shadow of the Colossus<\/em>‘ remake also improved upon many of the game’s original aspects, while making sure not to tamper with the game’s art direction. All of this combined makes the remake seem like watching the game through a rose-tinted nostalgic filter, which is the highest praise a remake can actually garner.<\/p>\n

It is believed that a Metal Gear Solid<\/em> remake<\/a> would also walk down the same road in the future, if the rumors are true. This could turn out to be great, as the originals are still playable to some extent, but require putting up with some dated mechanics to find out what’s so captivating about them. With no Metal Gear Solid 6<\/em> in the works, the collection could very well give fans what they’ve wanted all along.<\/p>\n

Metal Gear Solid<\/em> <\/strong>remakes are rumored to be in development for PC and PS5.<\/p>\n
