The PlayStation version appears to be just over half the Xbox version&#8217;s size, which is a huge difference in size not often seen between similar versions of a game.<\/p>\n<p>After <em>Resident Evil Village<\/em>&#8216;s download size<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/resident-evil-village-8-file-size\/\"> was revealed on the Microsoft Store<\/a> to be 50.02 GB, many assumed that it would be a similar size on PlayStation. However, as previously mentioned, this does not seem to be the case, and the difference between the two versions is sizeable, with the PlayStation 5 version being 27.325 GB.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>Related: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/resident-evil-future-capcom-resident-evil-7-first-person-horror\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Why <em>Resident Evil<\/em>&#8216;s Immediate Future Is Hitched To <em>Resident Evil 7<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>When <em>Resident Evil 7\u00a0 <\/em>was released in 2017, the difference between the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 download size was almost identical, with both games being just over 20 GB. The previously revealed 50.02 GB download size for <em>Resident Evil Village <\/em>on the Microsoft Store may seem a huge leap in size from <em>Resident Evil 7, <\/em>but 50 GB is pretty small for current generation games. <em><a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/cod-black-ops-cold-war-file-size-consoles\/\">Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/a>&#8216;s <\/em>was staggeringly over 130GB file size on both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PlaystationSize\/status\/1369043425287409667\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>There are a few things to note about the difference in size between <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/resident-evil-8\/\"><em>Resident Evil Village<\/em><\/a> versions. Firstly, the difference in size does not mean a difference in content or performance, nor does it hint at exclusive content on Xbox. Secondly, the PlayStation Game Size report does not refer to the size of the PlayStation 4 version of the game, so that version&#8217;s file size may be similar to the Xbox version. Finally, the 27.325 GB figure does not include the Day One patch, which the Microsoft store could include.<\/p>\n<p>The smaller size of the game could be related to the PlayStation 5 SSD, which Sony informed us would mean reduced loading times and smaller file sizes. <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/ps5-ssd-load-time-video\/\">PlayStation 5 players have witnessed massive improvements<\/a> in load times and faster downloads, so smaller file sizes are to be expected. If this trend were to continue and PlayStation 5 games are much smaller than the Xbox version, it could prove troublesome for the console&#8217;s player-base. As seen above with <em>Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, <\/em>file sizes are getting bigger and bigger, and hard drive space is a concern for many gamers, and smaller file sizes mean more space, giving the PlayStation 5 an advantage against their rival.<\/p>\n<p>That being said, it is too soon to tell whether games will take up less space on <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/ps5-ssd-storage-space-file-size\/\">PlayStation 5, which is already having space issues,<\/a> and\u00a0<em>Resident Evil Village\u00a0<\/em>may just end up an outlier.
