Now that the finale of\u00a0WandaVision<\/em><\/strong><\/a> has come and gone, fans know just about everything that was lurking in the shadows beneath Westview, and there have been some teases for what might come next as well. Among those big reveals was the appearance of a reconstructed Vision, who engaged in a showdown between Wanda’s fake recreation of Vision, both played by Paul Bettany.<\/p>\n

Those who saw the final episode will remember that S.W.O.R.D.’s primary goal turned out to be reclaiming Vision and using him as a weapon<\/a>.\u00a0Over the course of\u00a0WandaVision<\/em>, they eventually managed to revive Vision’s original body without his memories, programming him to locate and kill Wanda.<\/p>\n

After entering Westview, however, the ghostly corpse of Vision encountered Wanda’s own Vision, recreated from her memories and grief. As the two fought, Wanda’s version of Vision realized that his opponent was indeed the real one and offered to return his memories, which was reluctantly accepted. Upon recovering the memories, the rebuilt Vision disappeared from the narrative, abandoning his quest to kill Wanda.\u00a0Towards the end of WandaVision<\/em><\/a>, Wanda closes the Westview bubble, freeing everyone inside but also making her kids and her version of Vision disappear. With the rebuilt vision still floating out somewhere in the MCU, questions have naturally been raised about what that means for the future of the character, and whether he will return in any capacity.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with Esquire, Vision actor Bettany discussed his interest in the character and what the android might look like without Wanda by his side: “There is so much to get into with him because it’s been ten minutes here, ten minutes there, in the movies. Now we’re sort of just starting to sort of peel back some stuff.” It’s a good point: Vision has almost never been the focus of any film he’s been in since debuting in\u00a0Avengers: Age of Ultron,<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>with\u00a0his most significant development occurring\u00a0in\u00a0WandaVision<\/em>, where he still plays second fiddle to Wanda herself.<\/p>\n

While Wanda and\u00a0Agatha Harkness, the true identity of Agnes the nosy neighbor<\/a>, settled their conflict with a magic battle, Vision and his counterpart took a decidedly different approach. Bettany\u00a0discussed the difficult nature of confronting himself in the big finale, as Vision and ‘The Vision’ talked back and forth in a very philosophical debate:\u00a0“I was super intimidated by myself. I would come in one day and I would be Vision or The Vision. Then Adam [Lytle], my stunt guy, would play Vision… It was more confusing than I had sort of allotted. It used up all of my brain.”<\/p>\n

While Bettany\u00a0didn’t directly confirm any new\u00a0Vision appearances<\/a> in the works, it seems like there’s a good chance Vision will still kicking around in the MCU going forward. Hopefully, once Phase 4 of the MCU really gets rolling, fans will get a chance to see Bettany’s Vision return sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n
