But, what\u2019s caught the attention of avid followers is the first proper look at Kabal, and it seems like the film has truly honored the original design of the character, with his iconic respirator and Hookswords.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The official<em> Mortal Kombat<\/em> movie Twitter channel revealed the poster, inviting fans of the series to \u201cchoose your fighter.\u201d With Scorpion and Sub-Zero in the lead, the fighters are clearly divided into two teams. The video games pit <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mortal-kombat-video-game-fights-subzero-scorpion-sonya-kano\/\">Champions of Earthrealm against<\/a> the Outworld champions and the movie\u00a0appears to be keeping that theme intact. Apart from Kabal, the poster features other main characters Cole Young, Sonya Blade, Jax Briggs, Shang Tsung, and Mileena.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><b>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mortal-kombat-fans-notice-trailer\/\">10 Things Only Long Time Fans Of Mortal Kombat Will Notice From The Trailer<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When Warner Bros. first announced the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mortal Kombat <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reboot, it was confirmed that 12 Kombatants from the games would be making an appearance. Kabal was on that list, but fans were upset when the first trailer dropped\u00a0because they didn\u2019t get a proper look at him. While many were quick to point out that he appears in a fight scene with Liu Kang, the poster is the first time they get to see his iconic look from the games come to life. This could potentially mean he will have a prominent role in the film, something that fans have been asking for since the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mortal-kombat-trailer-brutal-amazing\/\">first <em>Mortal Kombat<\/em> trailer<\/a>\u00a0was released.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MKMovie\/status\/1369694546607697923\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kabal first appeared in 1995&#8217;s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mortal Kombat 3<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0and went on to become a fan favorite. He was one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mortal-kombat-11-fighters-best\/\">toughest <em>Mortal Kombat<\/em> characters to beat<\/a> in the games and is shown to constantly shift allegiances. While the newly revealed poster shows him to be on Sub-Zero\u2019s villainous team of Outworld fighters, it remains to be seen if he will be changing sides in the film.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some keen-eyed fans have already spotted Kabal\u2019s teased death in the trailer at Liu Kang\u2019s hands. One of the shots in the almost three-minute-long trailer shows <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mortal-kombat-movie-liu-kang-fireball\/\">Liu Kang conjuring a dragon<\/a> out of the fire, the character\u2019s fatality in the games, which rises before Kabal. Even though he is a popular character, Kabal was never one of the main ones in the game and this has fans wondering if he will be knocked out.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One thing that has fans excited, though, is the fact that\u00a0<em>Mortal Kombat <\/em>has officially received an R-rating. This means that\u00a0the film will be portraying the characters\u2019 fatalities in their true, gory form.
