Following the significant hiatus,\u00a0reports hit the web concerning <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/dying-light-2-techland-hostile-work-environment\/\">toxic work environments at the Polish studio<\/a>, with accusations being levied at its CEO,\u00a0Pawel Marchewka.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless, it seems the team is continuing to push forward with the project, announcing today that\u00a0it will be\u00a0talking about <em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/dying-light-2\/\">Dying Light 2<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>very soon. According to a post on the game&#8217;s official Twitter, there will be a developer update next Wednesday, March 17, with players who join the team&#8217;s Discord allegedly\u00a0being the first to see it.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/dying-light-2-2021\/\">Is 2021 The Year of Dying Light 2?<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Not much else is shared regarding what will be unveiled in the update, however, the post does provide a short glimpse at a Volatile, which are\u00a0a faster, stronger, and more menacing variation of <em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/dying-light-2-open-world-zombie-games\/\">Dying Light&#8217;s\u00a0<\/a><\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/dying-light-2-open-world-zombie-games\/\">zombies<\/a> that only emerge at night. It seems the terrifying\u00a0creatures will continue to stalk players in the sequel, which allegedly takes place 15 years after the events of the first game. The developers will have a lot to fill players in on, especially\u00a0as news on the game has been relatively slim since\u00a0an action-packed slice of gameplay that debuted back in 2019.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DyingLightGame\/status\/1370405603542237185\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>For those who missed the <em>Dying Light 2<\/em>\u00a0announcement, the\u00a0sequel takes place in a world overrun by the undead, with players assuming the role of Aiden Caldwell: an infected survivor searching for a cure. Unlike the last title,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/dying-light-2-demo-e3-2019-preview-techland\/\"><em>Dying Light 2\u00a0<\/em>relies heavily on the concept of choice and consequence<\/a>, with players having to make impactful moral decisions that will alter the story and the game world. Early game footage showed this dramatically affecting how the protagonist navigates areas of the sequel&#8217;s open-world setting, as buildings that could be traversable in\u00a0some playthroughs would be destroyed in others. It&#8217;s an ambitious concept and one that players seem excited to unravel.<\/p>\n<p>On top of that, it\u00a0appears the original&#8217;s blend of fast-paced parkour and brutal zombie-killing will return, with <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/dying-light-2-extensive-4k-gameplay-video\/\">the gameplay footage from 2019 showing more grisly post-apocalyptic exploration<\/a>. It remains to be seen if the game is still targeting a 2021 release, with it originally slated to hit shelves in Spring 2020. At the time, the devs claimed they needed longer to deliver the experience they&#8217;d intended when announcing\u00a0the sequel<em>,\u00a0<\/em>asking fans to be patient.
