The ability to create and\/or purchase NFTs has proven to be a lucrative opportunity for some people, while others have had negative experiences with the use of them. NFTs can be viewed somewhat like a certificate of authenticity for a digital item, being attached to almost any form of digital content such as internet videos, music, or even in-game digital art.<\/p>\n<p>A recent sale of NFTs for digital art in <em>The Castle Doctrine<\/em> video game, has sparked some conversation around NFTs and how they may impact the original artist or creator of the content, that an NFT validates. Jason Rohrer recently made a tweet to advertise a sale for NFTs connected to pixel paintings from his <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/loop-hero-unlock-temporal-beacon\/\">Steam\u00a0indie game<\/a>, <em>The Castle Doctrine<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"related-single\">RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/indie-video-games-2021\/\">Indie Video Game Calendar 2021 (March Update)<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Since Rohrer\u2019s tweet about the sale of pixel paintings from <em>The Castle Doctrine<\/em>, some of the original artists behind the pixel paintings, have voiced their opinions having their art turned into NFTs without being asked. Twitter user @jasperbyrne mentioned his stance on being anti-NFT and that they are disappointed that their artwork is being used this way.\u00a0Jasper also went on to say that even if asked, they don\u2019t know if they would have agreed to their artwork being used as an NFT.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jasonrohrer\/status\/1369331652787400704?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jasperbyrne\/status\/1370507388537700358?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Many people joined in on Rohrer\u2019s Twitter thread to voice their concerns with the sale of these NFTs. Andy Nealen on Twitter shared a screenshot of his <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/spiritfarer-dlc-new-spirits-roadmap\/\">pixel art\u00a0from the indie game<\/a>,\u00a0that is being sold as an NFT, as well <em>T<\/em><em>he Castle Doctrine<\/em>\u2019s NFT description that mentions acquiring these NFT\u2019s responsibly. Nealen asked how someone could acquire these tokens responsibly without his consent.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nealen\/status\/1369686361893076997?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Rohrer went on to state that the pixel art that the NFTs are attached to, were given to him as gifts. This sparked more conversation around selling these indie game, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/zelda-fan-breath-wild-pixel-art-tribute\/\">pixel artworks for profit<\/a>. Rohrer also went on to say that NFTs are \u201ckind of\u201d a scam. This sparked even more conversation around the value of the NFTs being sold.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BRKeogh\/status\/1370356988169744388?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>NFT\u2019s are becoming a bigger topic each day.
