The four-hour director-approved cut of the superhero film has been highly anticipated by fans of Snyder and DC comics, and it now appears that Jeremy Kirby, the grandson of legendary comics creator Jack Kirby, is among them.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier today, Snyder tweeted out\u00a0a character poster on his Twitter account of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/zack-snyder-justice-league-darkseid-mcfarlane\/\"><em>Justice League<\/em>&#8216;s\u00a0main antagonist\u00a0Darkseid<\/a>.\u00a0The poster shows a full-body black and white image of Darkseid, looking menacing as ever as he stares down at his enemies with his glowing eyes. Jeremy Kirby retweeted this post with the caption, &#8220;Thank you @ZackSnyder.&#8221; Kirby&#8217;s grandson seemingly approves of Snyder&#8217;s adaptation\u00a0of his grandfather&#8217;s creation and has been involved in keeping his grandfathers legacy alive. On top of being the descendant\u00a0of one of the most important names in comics, Jeremy Kirby is also the host of the podcast\u00a0<em>Kirby On Comics\u00a0<\/em>and serves as the curator of the website <em>Jack Kirby: King of Comics.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/darkseid-zack-snyder-justice-league-ad\/\">Darkseid Is Front And Center In Twitch Ad For Zack Snyder&#8217;s Justice League<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Darkseid was created by Jack Kirby and made his first appearance in <em>Superman&#8217;s Pal Jimmy Olsen #134\u00a0<\/em>in 1970. In the comics, Darkseid is the tyrannical ruler of the planet Apokolips who seeks to conquer the universe and\u00a0eliminate all hope and free will in sentient beings. The character\u00a0was originally conceived by Jack Kirby to be the villain in his <em>Fourth World Saga\u00a0<\/em>for DC Comics. Darkseid is one of the most powerful beings in the universe and\u00a0would go on to become <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/zack-snyder-justice-league-superman-black-suit-warner-bros\/\">an important antagonist for Superman<\/a> and a reoccurring\u00a0foe for the Justice League.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jackkirbycomics\/status\/1369715784348438530\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ZackSnyder\/status\/1369725090980528129\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Jack Kirby is one of the most important names in comic book history and is often referred to as the &#8216;King of Comics.&#8217; Born and raised in New York City to Jewish immigrants, Jack Kirby served in the Second World War before working at Marvel Comics, where he helped create\u00a0many of the company&#8217;s most beloved and popular characters,\u00a0including\u00a0<em>Thor<\/em>, <em>The Fantastic Four<\/em>, <em>The X-Men, Hulk,<\/em>\u00a0and<em>\u00a0<\/em><em>Captain America<\/em>. Jack Kirby, along with <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/james-gunn-fan-theories-stan-lee-cameo\/\">Marvel Comics icon Stan Lee<\/a>, was instrumental in bringing\u00a0Marvel to the forefront of the comics world.<\/p>\n<p>In 1970, Jack Kirby left Marvel for DC, the company&#8217;s rival, feeling that he had not received proper authorship and creator rights for his work. At DC, Jack Kirby created the\u00a0<em>Fourth World Saga<\/em>, a sprawling epic series of\u00a0connected comic book storylines\u00a0that featured <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/zack-snyder-justice-league-new-darkseid-image\/\">characters such as\u00a0Darkseid<\/a>.<em> The Fourth World Saga<\/em>\u00a0featured Darkseid&#8217;s quest to seek out the Anti-Life Equation: a mathematical formula that\u00a0would allow him\u00a0to control all life in the universe.<\/p>\n<p>Many of Jack Kirby&#8217;s contributions towards DC have continued to influence the DC universe today, including Snyder&#8217;s DCEU films.\u00a0Notably, <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/thanos-darkseid-fight-who-wins-ava-duvernay\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ava DuVernay\u00a0will be developing\u00a0a <em>New Gods<\/em><\/a><em>\u00a0<\/em>film for Warner Bros., focusing on the titular race of fictional super-beings created by Jack Kirby.
