The newly announced title,\u00a0Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge,\u00a0<\/em>will be developed by Tribute Games, the team behind the retro-inspired classic\u00a0Panzer Paladin<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em>The game will follow the old-school gameplay of the memorable\u00a0Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time,\u00a0<\/em>as well as the original arcade game. The\u00a0TMNT\u00a0<\/em>have\u00a0been around since 1984 and their video games have fluctuated over the years in terms of quality, but a few titles stand out as particularly great. In no particular order, here are\u00a0the best\u00a0TMNT<\/em> games.<\/p>\n

10 <\/span>Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Arcade)<\/h2>\n

The game that started it all and helped launch the Turtles into stardom. This arcade classic<\/a> allows for up to four friends to control those pesky pizza-eating Turtles and kick some Shredder butt. The game was an instant success when it hit arcades in 1989, so much so that it was ported to the NES and Famicom systems in 1990.<\/p>\n

The game appeared on sixth generation consoles as a bonus game in\u00a0Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Battle Nexus.\u00a0<\/em>Players low on quarters can try and find a copy of the recently reissued arcade cabinet<\/a> from Arcade1up.<\/p>\n

9 <\/span>Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time<\/h2>\n

Perhaps the quintessential\u00a0TMNT\u00a0<\/em>game for many die-hard fans,\u00a0Turtles in Time\u00a0<\/em>is one of the best beat’ em up games of the 1990s. The Turtles\u00a0jump through time to fight Shredder and his army of henchman one clobbering at a time. The game was released on arcade systems and the SNES\u00a0as a direct sequel<\/a> to the previous side-scrolling classic.<\/p>\n

8 <\/span>Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist<\/h2>\n

An often-overlooked entry in the Turtle’s saga, this Sega Genesis exclusive<\/a> was released in 1992, shortly after\u00a0Turtles in Time,\u00a0<\/em>from which it borrows many of its gameplay elements. After Shredder shrinks Manhattan using the power of the Hyperstone, the Turtles have to jump back into action to stop their foe and save their city.<\/p>\n

Although often called a clone of\u00a0Turtles in Time<\/em>, this game still manages to pack in a lot of fun side-scrolling combat into the story and build off the strengths of previous entries. Only released on the Genesis, fans might have luck finding a physical copy online or at used game stores.<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Radical Rescue<\/h2>\n

Originally released by Konami for the first Game Boy in 1<\/a>993<\/a>, this platformer action game is reminiscent of\u00a0the company’s own\u00a0Castlevania<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>series. Each turtle has their own unique move set, making it one of the more offbeat early games of the franchise.<\/p>\n

Many familiar villains return as bosses in this hidden handheld\u00a0gem that helped branch the Turtles out of arcade territory. Fans can try to find a copy on the Game Boy.<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters<\/h2>\n

The boom of fighting games in the early ’90s was inescapable and the Turtles were not resistant to jumping to different genres. While there is still a story mode for single-player, there is also a multiplayer mode, keeping in vein with the arcade-style of gaming that the series is beloved for.<\/p>\n

This hack and slash platformer is based on the 2007 film of the same name. Developed by Ubisoft\u00a0for the sixth and seventh generation of consoles, TMNT<\/em> has similarities to the\u00a0Prince of Persia\u00a0<\/em>games in terms of gameplay but follows the plot of the film for the most part.<\/p>\n

An updated version of the classic arcade game,\u00a0Re-Shelled\u00a0<\/em>keeps the gameplay the same for the most part but polishes up the pixel graphics.<\/p>\n
