10 <\/span>Daughter of Hel<\/h2>\n

Early in Fire Emblem<\/a> Heroes’<\/em> Book III, Eir reminds the Order of Heroes that she is the daughter of Queen Hel. Prior to their alliance, Eir attacks the party albeit with severe hesitation before joining their cause. She no longer wants to aid her mother.<\/p>\n

As Queen Hel continues to invade Askr, she struggles to accept that the Order of Heroes can defeat her mother. She knows better than anyone how powerful her dominion is. Before standing against Hel, Eir<\/a> spent years being her mother’s own experimental tool in order to gain power at her daughter’s expense.<\/p>\n

9 <\/span>Voiced by Xanthe Huynh<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Xanthe Huynh is a prominent voice actress for video games and anime. Since debuting in 2008<\/a>, Xanthe has voiced numerous characters that received high praise. Among these include Haru Okumura from the Atlus JRPG,\u00a0Persona 5,<\/em> and Nazuna from the anime, BNA: Brand New Animal<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In contrast to the aforementioned brighter characters, Xanthe voices Eir fittingly as the sorrowful princess of the dead. As Merciful Death<\/a>, Eir sounds like a taciturn girl devoid of life. Yet, in her New Year’s alt<\/a>,\u00a0Eir sounds more lively\u00a0and upbeat as if\u00a0she found hope after her horrific ordeals. A player’s ear can immediately tell the difference in Eir’s vocal tone after being given a second chance at life.<\/p>\n

8 <\/span>Effective Against Mages<\/h2>\n

One thing that stands out about Eir is her unique statline in Fire Emblem<\/a> Heroes<\/em>. At the time, physical units with high resistance were fairly uncommon. Eir breaks the mold both as a flyer with high resistance and as a dagger unit.<\/p>\n

As such, she makes for an ideal anti-mage and anti-healer unit. Plus she can heal adjacent units with her special weapon. It’s worth checking out her builds<\/a> to unleash her full potential in battle.<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>Died Many Times<\/h2>\n

One of Eir’s most tragic histories comes from her many lives. As in, her mother used her to gain power. In doing so, Hel killed her many times and revived her over and over.<\/p>\n

Eir was forced to house many souls in order to become powerful before Hel sapped the life out of her. Her memory was hazy until around the time Fire Emblem<\/a> Heroes<\/em> Book III started and, as such, realized truly what she’d been put through.<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Has a New Year’s Alt<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

As mentioned earlier, Eir’s New Year’s alt gives her a cautiously optimistic outlook on life. Dressed in a kimono, she celebrates a new year alongside her new friends and family. As such, she spends time celebrating the festival with them.<\/p>\n

Eir no longer has a mother and has to remember all of her trauma. However, she chooses to look forward with renewed life and dressed in new battle garb. For owners of New Year’s Eir, it’s worth checking out her best builds<\/a>.<\/p>\n

5 <\/span>Among the Longest Hair in Fire Emblem Heroes<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

In her base art, Eir’s hair flows down to her lower legs. This is with her hair dolled up in a ponytail as well. There’s no telling how long it is otherwise.<\/p>\n

Eir has among the longest hair along with Sothis and her own mother, Hel. For those who wear ponytails, Lyn is another contender for the longest hair in the game.<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>Glass Cannon<\/h2>\n

Both of Eir’s forms feature a flying unit with high resistance. Her anti-magic stats and weapon make her an ideal counter unit. In both her main and alt form, she also cannot endure physical blows.<\/p>\n

Eir is best left outside of the frontlines when fighting tanks and DPS fighters. She can take damage against mages without fail. But a single hit from an archer<\/a>\u00a0could fell her in one shot.<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>Named from Norse Mythology<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

As with much of Fire Emblem<\/a> Heroes<\/em>‘ tale, Eir’s name comes from Norse Mythology. Her name\u00a0comes from “the goddess of healing and medical skills<\/a>.” This runs in line with her role as a healer using her Lyfjaberg weapon.<\/p>\n

Lyfja comes from Hel, land of the dead, which is shared with her mother’s name. The realm of Hel comes from the 9 realms, of which Niflheim, Muspell, Ljosfalheim, and\u00a0Nidavellir have thus far been explored in Heroes.<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>Befriends Several Heroes<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

In the Forging Bonds mode, Eir is featured among those meeting the new heroes within the sub-storyline. As such, she’s introduced to characters from past Fire Emblem<\/a><\/em> titles. Among the most recent includes Sara from Fire Emblem: Thracia 776<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Her bond with Sara becomes a special moment. Sara can detect the inner voices of other people and finds Eir’s to be the most unique she’s ever heard. She learns Eir’s voice, unlike any other, is both sorrowful yet hopeful for the future.<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>Overcoming Her Grief<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

As mentioned earlier, Eir is taking steps to overcome her vicious trauma. Despite dying many deaths, aiding with matricide, and having witnessed the loss of her beloved friends, Eir continues to grow. She participates in festivals and continues to live among the Order of Heroes.<\/p>\n

Eir’s growth is among one of the special cases in the game. It’s not afraid to show the dark side of a girl who has lost everything. Yet at the same time, her New Year’s alt and Forging Bonds storyline indicate that she will continue living for the future.<\/p>\n
