While Apex Legends\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>is a first-person shooter battle royale game first and foremost, the game does have plenty of lore and worldbuilding for players to get invested in. In fact, Apex Legends<\/em>‘ in-game treasure packs<\/a> are easy ways for players to get small glimpses of lore during each season of the Apex Games.<\/p>\n

Now, Apex Legends<\/em> is getting yet another piece of extended universe lore in the form of a brand new Dark Horse comic collaboration. The new Apex Legends<\/em><\/a> comic will be a four-issue limited series called Apex Legends: Overtime,\u00a0<\/em>releasing on June 2, 2021,\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0will be penned\u00a0by Titanfall<\/em> and Titanfall 2<\/em> writer Jesse Stern and illustrated with the help of several artists.<\/p>\n

The news comes by way of IGN, which received an exclusive first look preview of the Apex Legends: Overtime<\/em> comic. Of course, the most eye-catching element of the preview is the cover art of the first issue, which sees Mirage and Crypto staring down a simulacrum that could very well be the playable in-game Legend Revenant<\/a>. The official story teaser given by Dark Horse comics keeps things brief, reading, “In the comic series, the Legends find themselves pulled together to rescue the city from Mad Scientists, brutal assassins, and the sudden and sinister grip of The Syndicate, a corrupt cabal attempting to \u201cfix\u201d arena outcomes in their favor.”<\/p>\n

While the summary naturally keeps things somewhat vague as to not spoil the story too much, it does mention that the story takes place on Solace, which is the planet where the King’s Canyon map is located<\/a>. However, another very interesting element of the comic reveal is the artists attached to the project, Neil Edwards, Keith Champagne, Antonio Fabela, and Nate Piekos. Edwards has worked on comics for Marvel, DC, and even on the Titan Comics’ Assassin’s Creed<\/em>\u00a0series, and will be the primary illustrator for the comic. Champange, who has similarly worked on DC, Marvel, and even Dark Horse’s Stranger Things<\/em> comic series, will\u00a0provide inking for the Apex<\/em> comic series.<\/p>\n
