Even though the game absolutely exploded in popularity back during its 2017 debut, effectively bringing the battle royale genre into the mainstream, it still remains nearly as popular today, even if its audience has shifted somewhat. Additionally, a myriad of crossovers and collaborations has helped\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/fortnite\"><em>Fortnite<\/em><\/a> reach even more fans recently, with\u00a0skins based on\u00a0the\u00a0<em>Alien<\/em> movies, the\u00a0<em>Street Fighter<\/em> games, and even popular streamers.<\/p>\n<p>Just yesterday, the game entered Chapter 2 Season 6, introducing players to an all-new Primal theme, where they must scavenge and hunt for materials in order to <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/fortnite-primal-weapon-crafting\/\">craft and upgrade their Makeshift and Primal weapons<\/a> during battle. The new season was kicked off by\u00a0<em>Fortnite<\/em>&#8216;s Zero Crisis Finale event, which featured an impressive new animated cinematic. Now, it has been revealed that the Zero Crisis Story Cinematic was directed by none other than the Russo Brothers.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/fortnite-season-6-dinosaurs\/\">Rumor: Fortnite Season 6 Could Be Adding Dinosaurs<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>While Anthony and Joseph Russo may be best known for their work on\u00a0<em>Captain America: Civil War<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Avengers: Infinity War<\/em>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/captain-america-avengers-endgame-timeline-explained\/\"><em>Avengers: Endgame<\/em>,<\/a> it turns out they are also big fans of\u00a0<em>Fortnite<\/em>. The news comes by way of Variety, which received exclusive statements from the pair of directors, who said that the game has a &#8220;unique place in pop culture,&#8221; and that Epic Games CCO Donald Mustard is a &#8220;visionary storyteller who continues to take us all into unexplored territory.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DonaldMustard\/status\/1372292789862461440?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"200\" height=\"113\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xNWaHd8tj2E?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>When thinking of how to best tell the next part of\u00a0<em>Fortnite<\/em>&#8216;s overarching story in an authentic and character-driven way, Mustard said, &#8220;we knew there was no one better to help us do that than the Russos.&#8221; The CCO has called the Zero Crisis Story Cinematic a &#8220;defining moment&#8221; for what lies next in store for\u00a0the battle royale game. The cinematic featured the continuation of Agent Jones&#8217; mission to stabilize the Zero Point, which is capable of destroying all existence. The character then receives help from The Foundation, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/fortnite-the-seven-trending-twitter\/\">a member of The Seven,<\/a> a mysterious group of individuals that\u00a0<em>Fortnite<\/em> fans will recognize from many past teasers.<\/p>\n<p>The impressive cinematic features not only original <em>Fortnite<\/em> characters, but also characters from Season 5&#8217;s many crossovers, like\u00a0<em>God of War<\/em>&#8216;s Kratos,\u00a0Sarah Connor from the\u00a0<em>Terminator<\/em> series, and more. This isn&#8217;t the first time Epic Games has collaborated with the Russo Brothers, as they worked together to bring players\u00a0a limited-time\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/fortnite-thanos-infinity-gauntlet-nerf\/\"><em>Avengers: Infinity War<\/em>-themed\u00a0mode<\/a> where fans\u00a0could play as\u00a0Thanos wielding the Infinity Gauntlet.<\/p>\n<p><em>Fortnite<\/em>&#8216;s Chapter 2 Season 6 Battle Pass is available now, featuring even more crossover <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/fortnite-season-6-lara-croft-tomb-raider-skins\/\">cameos from\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/fortnite-season-6-lara-croft-tomb-raider-skins\/\"><em>Tomb Raider<\/em><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/fortnite-season-6-lara-croft-tomb-raider-skins\/\">&#8216;s Lara Croft<\/a>\u00a0as well as\u00a0<em>Teen Titan<\/em><em>s<\/em>&#8216; Raven.
