It\u2019s an appealing weapon with lightning reload speed and an easy means of rerolling the weapon twice a week.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\">RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/destiny-2-starting-tips\/\">10 Things You Need To Know If You\u2019re Just Starting Destiny 2<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Once players have their ideal rolls, it\u2019s important to chase down the Dead Man\u2019s Tale Catalyst. For many players, it becomes a powerful weapon in Crucible and well worth the effort of obtaining. For those wanting the Catalyst, here\u2019s what it does and how to get it.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static0.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Destiny-2-Dead-Mans-Tale-Weapon.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>Dead Man\u2019s Tale Catalyst introduces a useful perk called Dark-Forged Trigger. Dark-Forged Trigger has two effects when applied to the weapon:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increased rate of fire for hipfiring.<\/li>\n<li>Removes hipfire penalties for accuracy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This gives players a fast weapon that works well in fast paced combat scenarios. Its still early to see how it shakes up the meta in Crucible, but it\u2019s bound to have an impact of some kind.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static2.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Destiny-2-At-Your-Fingertips.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>After getting the weapon players will need to complete the questline At Your Fingertips. Basically, players will need to recomplete the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/destiny-2-presage-exotic-mission-solo-how\/\">Presage quest<\/a> again on Master difficulty to get the Catalyst. Then they\u2019ll need to upgrade it using two methods; racking up kills and finding hidden caches.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static0.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Destiny-2-Presage-Arena.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>It\u2019s the same mission as it was to get the weapon only harder and with a 25-minute timer. Players can be as over-leveled as they want to make it easier.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static2.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Destiny-2-Presage.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>The Dead Man\u2019s Tale Catalyst can be upgraded by simply killing enemies with the Dead Man\u2019s Tale weapon. It will take a total of 800 kills to fully upgrade the weapon. Fortunately, any retroactive kills done with the Dead Man\u2019s Tale will count.<\/p>\n<p>The bottom line is players should equip this weapon and use it almost exclusively to obtain those 800 kills. Ideally though, players should also use the second method to upgrade their Catalyst to cut down on that time.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Destiny-2-Hidden-Cache.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>Hidden Caches are available on a second run of Presage and only one is available each week. Each Hidden Cache will count as 12% of the upgrade. There are at least a dozen Hidden Caches the player can encounter. It\u2019s strongly recommended the player use a video guide as some of the Caches can be hard to spot.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Destiny-2-Dead-Mans-Tale-Rifle-Guardian.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>Players need to complete Presage to get the weapon, complete it again on Master to get the Catalyst, and a number of times to locate Hidden caches. For obvious reasons, players should become extremely familiar with Presage and how to complete it within 25 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s strongly recommended to go after Hidden Caches in tandem with getting kills via the Dead Man\u2019s Tale. Each Hidden Cache counts as 96 kills, that\u2019s 96 fewer enemies the player has to kill with the Dead Man\u2019s Tale and cuts down significantly on grind time.<\/p>\n<p>Doing only Caches isn\u2019t ideal either as it would take over 8 weeks to finish. Because of this, players should become comfortable using Dead Man\u2019s Tale and use it as their primary weapon moving forward.
