As Apex Legends\u2019<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0Chaos Theory collection event enters its second and final week, the latest limited-time mode, Ring Fury, has escalated to Level 4. This new version of Ring Fury brings the ring flare rules back to Level 1 but throws the city in the sky, Olympus, back into the map rotation along with Kings Canyon.<\/p>\n

After some technical issues and a hotfix earlier this week, which fixed the annoying \u2018whoosh\u2019 sounds caused by Heat Shields, most Apex Legends<\/em><\/a> players will be pleased by the variety brought back into the game by Olympus\u2019s return. This will also be the first time Nintendo Switch players<\/a> will have been able to play on the Season 7 map.<\/p>\n

As with Ring Fury Level 1, all players will start with two Heat Shields<\/a> to help them get through the smaller but more numerous ring flares around Olympus and Kings Canyon. When riding the dropship into the arena, three ring flares will begin to open and expand around the map, with more following throughout the round.<\/p>\n

By the end of the first round, the safe area will be littered with ring flares that vary slightly in size from small to medium. Thankfully, there are no giant ring flares like the ones in Ring Fury Level 2<\/a>. At the end of each round, all current ring flares will shrink and disappear so that new ones can begin spawning in randomly to adjust to the new ring.<\/p>\n

Since the smaller ring flares fill up the map a lot more evenly, it is more likely that teams will find themselves near a spawning ring flare. All players should pay attention to the map to see where nearby ring flares are and listen out for Legend callouts and the sirens that announce an incoming ring flare. Due to the layout of Olympus, with its giant gaps and wide-open spaces, ring flares can easily cut off good routes for traversing certain areas, so coordinated Heat Shields with teammates<\/a> will be important for players that find themselves cut off by a flare.<\/p>\n

The smaller ring flares present far fewer problems for players compared to the gigantic central flares as seen in Levels 2 and 3 of Ring Fury. Because of this, specific Legend picks are not quite as important as with the previous levels but given the size of the Olympus map, mobility Legends, such as Octane, Horizon<\/a>, and Pathfinder, will be crucial to quickly navigating the dangerous gaps in the floor of Olympus and to reposition and adapt to the ring flares.<\/p>\n

Level 4 of Ring Fury will likely be active in Apex Legends<\/em> for a few more days, with possibly more ring flare-based chaos arriving at the weekend in Level 5. Once the Chaos Theory event has ended, players can jump into a new Ranked split<\/a>, which will also have Olympus as the permanent map.<\/p>\n
