The video game community is arguably a strong force to be reckoned with, especially when large player bases consolidate their efforts online. Recently, the fans of Persona<\/strong><\/em> have gone on Twitter to post about Atlus\u2019s iconic role-playing game series<\/a> using the specific #personaisoverparty hashtag. This has caused the topic to trend on the online platform, and seems to have no conclusive reason behind it trending at all.<\/p>\n

With several titles under the Persona<\/em> series that have been released over some decades, the franchise has amassed a large amount of fans and followers around the world. The series always has interesting storylines that often integrate romance or\u00a0life simulations<\/a> with turn-based battle gameplay, and fans have come to enjoy the complicated yet fruitful Arcana system of the game. So it is no wonder that when the masses of Persona<\/em> fans see a trending topic about their beloved series, they seemingly have no hesitation in participating alongside the online community.<\/p>\n

On Twitter, the #personaisoverparty hashtag has already reached over 10,800 tweets from all over the United States. Atlus has not given any news or updates about the series, even though the team promised that they will make announcements regarding Persona<\/em>\u2019s 25th anniversary this 2021<\/a>. Therefore much is speculated about the reason why the topic is trending at all on Twitter. According to the platform\u2019s \u201cWhat\u2019s happening\u201d column, the hashtag is trending due to the series\u2019 fans joking about how they are done with Persona<\/em> video games.<\/p>\n

Some of the Twitter users who posted using the hashtag talked about “cancelling” the Persona<\/em> series, but in a seemingly sarcastic\u00a0manner, while many shared their fondest moments and memories from the series. Other fans\u00a0posted meme-worthy content that say\u00a0specific characters such as Goro Akechi from Persona 5<\/em><\/a> and Junpei Iori from Persona 3<\/em>\u00a0are the main reasons why the Persona<\/em> series should be over. There were also some fans who\u00a0posted their own creative content such as Persona 5<\/em> fan art and video clips that fit into the theme of cancelling the game.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, this goes to show that the Persona<\/em><\/a> fanbase is seemingly active and healthy. The community was able to produce such a large turnout of fan interactions, even though the trending topic was not even related to official game news. Hopefully the Atlus development team behind the Persona<\/em><\/strong> series will take notice, and that official announcements about what is next for the video game franchise will be made sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n
