The series has garnered high praise for its authenticity and high production value, and now fans can take a look at the behind-the-scenes magic involved in bringing the show to life through\u00a0visual effects.<\/p>\n<p>A video posted to ILM\u2019s official Youtube channel breaks down the various visual <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mandalorian-jon-favreau-tusken-raider\/\">effects used throughout Season 2 of <em>The Mandalorian<\/em><\/a><em>.\u00a0<\/em>The three-and-a-half-minute featurette breaks down the detailed process of putting together visual effects shots, showing how backgrounds were placed in shots during the post-production process, and how a\u00a0mixture of both practical and digital effects was used to create the world of\u00a0<em>T<\/em><em>he Mandalorian<\/em>. While the video is a detailed look at the visual effect process, it only begins to encompass the scale of this work. Along with their work on every\u00a0<em>Star Wars<\/em> movie, the company&#8217;s other credits include the\u00a0<em>Pirates of the Caribbean\u00a0<\/em>films, the <em>Harry Potter<\/em> franchise, and <em>Jurassic Park.<\/em>\u00a0ILM is one of the most groundbreaking visual effects companies in film history, having achieved many\u00a0milestones for the industry, including the creation of\u00a0the first entirely computer-generated character in <i>Young Sherlock Holmes.\u00a0<\/i>ILM has gone on to win numerous awards and nominations over the years,\u00a0including 13 Visual Effects Society Award nominations for their work on season 2 of <em>T<\/em><em>he Mandalorian.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"200\" height=\"113\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fb6Aww3LIDE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>Star Wars<\/em> has always been at the forefront of visual effects. The franchise has constantly pushed the boundaries of digital cinema, helping to invent new technology and techniques along the way. While<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/star-wars-mandalorian-greatest-strength\/\"><em> Star Wars<\/em>\u00a0has received its share of criticism<\/a><em>,\u00a0<\/em>particularly for George Lucas&#8217; overreliance on digital and visual effects, it\u2019s impossible to overstate how much the franchise and ILM\u2019s work has influenced modern-day cinema.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most impressive contributions to the world of visual effects is ILM\u2019s recent groundbreaking virtual filmmaking environment\u00a0\u2018The Volume,\u2019 which is used on <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mandalorian-virtual-set-tech-hollywood\/\"><em>Th<\/em><em>e Mandalorian<\/em> to create add-in\u00a0backgrounds<\/a> using\u00a0giant LED screens. This advanced technology allows for more detailed and realistic backgrounds, and may one day replace the use of the green screen and chroma key techniques, which have\u00a0been the standard for years.<\/p>\n<p>Ewan Mcgregor has stated that <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/obi-wan-show-filming-schedule-updates-ewan-mcgregor\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the upcoming <em>Obi-Wan Kenobi<\/em> series<\/a> will be shot using the same technology as <em>The Mandalorian<\/em>.
