Two Red Dead Redemption<\/em><\/strong> fans are celebrating their engagement after\u00a0an elaborate video game\u00a0themed proposal<\/a> complete with custom made accessories. Tara Lynne and Dean \u2014 or Sadie and John, as they’re better known in certain communities \u2014 share a mutual love for the Red Dead<\/em> series and had been friends for more than two years before deciding to tie the knot.<\/p>\n

The couple\u00a0first met through a mutual friend while attending the 2018 San Diego Comic-Con and quickly bonded over their\u00a0shared passion for\u00a0Red Dead Redemption<\/em><\/a>. When the game’s sequel came out just a few months later, their relationship blossomed further still as they shared their thoughts on the game’s story before spending hours exploring and enjoying the game’s online mode together. After more than two and a half years of friendship, however, Tara Lynne decided that the time was right to take the relationship to the next step and set about planning\u00a0the perfect\u00a0Red Dead<\/em> themed proposal for her partner.<\/p>\n

First, she had a banner made that resembled the Red Dead Online<\/em> posse invite screen and then tracked down a ring made from an 1899 half dollar; a coin minted in the same year that Red Dead Redemption 2<\/em><\/a> is set. The icing on the cake, so to speak, was a custom-made JB Cripps tinderbox from Etsy, which she used to\u00a0present the ring.\u00a0Dean said yes, and now the pair are looking forward to spending the rest of their lives together in a “permanent posse” of sorts.<\/p>\n

Although undoubtedly the most notable, this isn’t the first time that Tara Lynne has used Red Dead<\/em> related items to surprise her partner, having had a piece of Sadie and John themed artwork commissioned\u00a0just a few months ago. The pair also took\u00a0a trip to New Orleans to visit some of the series’ iconic locations and have attended many more conventions together as well, often cosplaying their Red Dead<\/em> counterparts<\/a> when doing so.<\/p>\n

The couple’s story is just one of many that demonstrates the power of video games when it comes to bringing people together.\u00a0Gaming related proposals, in particular, are becoming increasingly common these days, with plenty of heartwarming examples cropping up over the last few years alone. In December 2020, a VR reviewer made an entire game specifically to propose to her girlfriend, while the previous year, a game developer proposed using a custom-crafted loot box<\/a> styled after the ones found in Overwatch<\/em>.<\/p>\n
