Since then, many other companies have followed suit with their own video presentations, like <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/first-playstation-state-of-play\/\">PlayStation&#8217;s State of Play<\/a> and Ubisoft&#8217;s Ubisoft Forward presentations. However, despite setting the trend almost\u00a0a decade ago, Nintendo Directs are still seen by fans as some of the most exciting presentations out there.<\/p>\n<p>When the world was hit with the COVID-19 pandemic last year, fans noticed a clear absence of any Nintendo Direct presentations, and while <a href=\"http:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/nintendo\">Nintendo<\/a> introduced Partner Showcases and a\u00a0<em>Super Mario Bros.<\/em> 35th Anniversary Direct, fans still clamored for a general Nintendo Direct. But on February 17 of this year, fans were finally treated to their first Nintendo Direct presentation in almost a year-and-a-half. Now, fans have gotten &#8220;Nintendo Direct&#8221; trending on Twitter despite any recent announcement.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"next-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nintendo-switch-pro-price-cost-high\/\">Nintendo Switch Pro Price:\u00a0How\u00a0High is Too High?<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Although Nintendo Direct presentations often see plenty of <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nintendo-direct-2020-august-leak\/\">supposed leaks and rumors<\/a> being spread prior to their official announcement,\u00a0&#8220;Nintendo Direct&#8221; is currently trending on Twitter seemingly out of the blue. However, it looks like fans are having fun with the Nintendo Direct announcement format by poking fun at\u00a0how Nintendo is pulling\u00a0<em>Super Mario 3D All-Stars<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Super Mario Bros. 35<\/em> completely from all\u00a0in-person and\/or digital retailers on March 31.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HMKilla\/status\/1374433675429826576?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Failboat103\/status\/1374417353132285960?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CroppingZero\/status\/1374428358956654595?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ActualAero\/status\/1374455253261688839?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>During last year&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Super Mario Bros.<\/em> 35th Anniversary Direct, Nintendo announced that\u00a0<em>Super Mario 3D All-Stars<\/em> would release in celebration, featuring a remastered collection of three\u00a0hit\u00a03D\u00a0<em>Mario<\/em> games ported to the Nintendo Switch. The Japanese video game company also announced that Nintendo Switch Online members could download and play <em>Super Mario Bros. 35<\/em>,\u00a0a special battle royale version of the original\u00a0<em>Super Mario Bros.<\/em> game, much like\u00a0<em>Tetris 99<\/em>. However,\u00a0these games came with a huge catch, being that both the digital and physical versions of\u00a0<em>Super Mario 3D All-Stars<\/em> would <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/super-mario-march-2021\/\">no longer be available for purchase come March 31,<\/a> and that\u00a0<i>Super Mario\u00a0Bros. 35<\/i> will be completely unavailable to download or play after\u00a0that date as well.<\/p>\n<p>Since these announcements, many fans have joked that Nintendo is essentially going to <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mario-death-march-31\/\">&#8220;kill off&#8221; Mario on March 31.<\/a> Of course, these decisions by Nintendo have been met with tons of backlash from fans, with many accusing the company of creating artificial demand, and while many have theorized that Nintendo may go back on its\u00a0word\u00a0in light of fan\u00a0outcry, the company has only urged fans to act now before the games disappear on March 31.<\/p>\n<p>Although it seems the 35th anniversary of\u00a0<em>Super Mario Bros.<\/em> officially ends next Wednesday, it may be good news for fans of other franchises, as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/zelda-35th-anniversary-zelda-maker-when\/\"><em>The Legend of Zelda<\/em><\/a> celebrates its own 35th anniversary this year, as does\u00a0the\u00a0<em>Metroid<\/em> series.
