With how many different ghosts there are in Phasmophobia<\/em><\/strong>, there are many different ways players can find them. Players can purchase and bring along a large variety of ghost-hunting tools<\/a> in order to track down and help diagnose what exactly they are up against in any given location and situation.<\/p>\n

One of the more low-tech tools that players can use in Phasmophobia<\/a><\/em> are candles. They can come in a variety of sizes, be purchased from the shop, be found on-site, and be used as markers in larger maps where navigation can get a little tricky. These helpful items additionally can be used to detect if a ghost is nearby.<\/p>\n

Players can purchase candles for $15 each with players able to bring a maximum of four for an investigation. As previously mentioned, more can be found on the level map, but those candles will not be as bright as bought candles. Unlike certain tools, candles can be helpful no matter what type of Phasmophobia<\/em> ghost<\/a> players go up against.<\/p>\n

In order to light a candle, players will need to use a lighter or another lit candle. Lighters can be purchased from the store for $10 with a maximum of two being allowed for an investigation. If players are holding an unlit candle, they can light it if a lighter is in their inventory by pressing the F key. To light one with a lit candle, players will need to hold the unlit candle, look at the lit candle, then press F. Players can additionally light other players’ candles with lit candles or lighters.<\/p>\n

Due to candles not being electrically based, they will not go out due to the power being turned out or by ghosts activating hunts. Nearby ghosts however can still blow out candles<\/a> that are either held by players or set on the ground. This can help detect a ghost’s presence in an area.<\/p>\n

Even though ghosts can blow out candles, candles will eventually burn out by themselves after a few minutes. After this, they cannot be used again. Candles that are blown out by ghosts however can be relit, allowing players to check for sure if the candles extinguishing was due to ghosts or running out of time.<\/p>\n

Despite ghosts being able to interact with candles, they aren’t tools that can be used for exactly diagnosing the type of ghost active in certain locations like thermometers<\/a> and UV flashlights. They are more helpful early to find the ghost’s location or to prevent players’ sanity from dropping too quickly due to the amount of light emitting from them.<\/p>\n
