Between the recently announced Generation 4 remakes, <em>Pokemon Brilliant Diamond <\/em>and<em> Shining Pearl, <\/em>and the reveal of<em> Pokemon Legends: Arceus, <\/em>fans have a lot to look forward to<em>. <\/em>However, some fans are looking backward instead and sharing their favorite Pokemon designs from the Generation 5 games, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/pokemon-black\/\">Pokemon Black <\/a><\/em>and\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/pokemon-white\/\">White<\/a>, <\/em>and their sequels,<em> Pokemon Black 2 <\/em>and<em> White 2.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The fifth Generation of <em>Pokemon <\/em>began with <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-black-white-reviews\/\"><em>Pokemon Black<\/em> and <em>White<\/em>&#8216;s release in 2010<\/a> and were met with positive reviews; however, the game proved to be divisive. Over time though, popular opinion of the games changed, and the Generation has become more popular.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-black-white-starter-facts-trivia\/\">Pokemon Black &amp; White: 10 Things You Didn&#8217;t Know About The Starters<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>One of the more common criticisms of Generation 5 at release was the designs of the Pokemon, with many critics calling the developer, Game Freak, lazy. This brings fans\u00a0to today, as those who remember the Generation more fondly took to Twitter to post their favorite Pokemon from the Unova region and offer their thoughts and opinions. As more fans added their voices to the conversation, the topic began to trend on Twitter, increasing input. Looking through the tweets, it quickly becomes clear that every Pokemon is somebody&#8217;s favorite.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChikoritaCheez\/status\/1374760186141884428\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheCorvidBandit\/status\/1374818777825599488\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/pokejungle\/status\/1374856769315475456\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The designs of Generation 5&#8217;s Pokemon are not the only thing being discussed; others are talking about how <em>Pokemon Black <\/em>and <em>White <\/em>placed a greater emphasis on narrative than any other main series game. This move made it harder for long-time fans to use their favorite Pokemon, which at the time upset a lot of people. After the national dex was cut entirely in <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-sword-shield-national-dex\/\"><em>Pokemon Sword <\/em>and <em>Shield\u00a0<\/em>and the developers had to defend<\/a> themselves from the backlash, Generation 5&#8217;s decision to lock older Pokemon to the post-game in is easier to overlook.<\/p>\n<p>Ironically, while <em>Pokemon Black <\/em>and <em>White<\/em> aimed to a soft reboot the franchise, many fans now consider them to be the last of the classic games before <em>Pokemon X <\/em>and Y took the series in a new direction with easier battling and less traditional JRPG mechanics.
