A couple of days ago, the Resident Evil<\/em> franchise marked the 25th anniversary of the first game’s release in Japan. In celebration of the important milestone, Capcom announced that it would be hosting a huge Resident Evil<\/em> 25th Anniversary Showcase<\/a> that\u00a0could feature updates to upcoming projects such as Resident Evil Village<\/em> and maybe even confirm the long-rumored Resident Evil 4 Remake<\/strong><\/em>. Apart from not telling fans what to expect from the upcoming showcase, the event’s date is still being kept under wraps.<\/p>\n

However, Capcom said that the anniversary event would take place at some point in April, and the exact date will be revealed on the company’s social media channels. Of course, with Resident Evil Village<\/em> just around the corner, some fans are probably wondering what’s next for the franchise. It is widely believed that Resident Evil 4<\/em> Remake<\/a> will be Capcom’s next game after Village<\/em>, though this remains unconfirmed. The question now is, will Capcom finally announce Resident Evil 4 Remake<\/em> at the 25th-anniversary event?<\/p>\n

It’s difficult to predict what Capcom has in store for the upcoming event, but if\u00a0it does happen in April, then the 25th-anniversary event will take place at least a month before the release of Resident Evil Village<\/em>. Given that Village<\/em> is a mainline Resident Evil<\/em> game<\/a>, the event will likely center around hyping fans for the upcoming game instead of other projects that are still far off the schedule. Capcom has released various trailers, gameplay previews, and a playable PS5 demo for Resident Evil Village.<\/em>\u00a0A second demo will likely be announced at the 25th-anniversary event alongside more details on Resident Evil Village’s<\/em> story, characters, gameplay, and setting.<\/p>\n

Another game that could take away the spotlight from Resident Evil 4 Remake<\/em> is Resident Evil Re: Verse<\/em>. For the uninitiated, Capcom announced the development of Resident Evil: Re: Verse<\/em> last January<\/a>, and the game would be a versus multiplayer game that features four to six-person deathmatch battles. Capcom also revealed Resident Evil Re: Verse<\/em>\u00a0is being developed to celebrate the franchise’s 25th anniversary. A couple of days ago, Capcom revealed the open beta dates for Resident Evil Re: Verse’s<\/em> multiplayer, and more information about the game alongside additional characters will likely be revealed at the 25th-anniversary event next month.<\/p>\n

It remains to be seen whether Capcom will reveal the long-rumored remake of Resident Evil 4<\/em> at next month’s event, but fans shouldn’t get their hopes up. Apart from Resident Evil: Village<\/em> and Re: Verse <\/em>taking center stage<\/a>\u00a0at the anniversary event, it is unlikely for Capcom to reveal a new project, especially now that a mainline Resident Evil<\/em> game is on the verge of release. Additionally, Capcom’s release pattern of games\u00a0could\u00a0suggest that RE4<\/em> Remake is not ready to be revealed just yet.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that Resident Evil 2 Remake<\/em> was released in January 2020, and Resident Evil 3 Remake<\/em><\/a> was announced almost a year later in December 2020 and was released in April 2021. If Capcom follows the same pattern, then Resident Evil 4 Remake, if it does exist, should be announced several months after the release of Resident Evil: Village<\/em>, which falls sometime in early 2022.<\/p>\n

However, it’s not all doom and gloom for fans waiting to hear whether a remake of Resident Evil 4<\/em> is really in the works. It is worth noting that just after Capcom released Resident Evil 3<\/em> Remake<\/em>, the company surveyed fans which Resident Evil<\/em> game they want to see remade next<\/a>. Capcom never revealed the survey result, but it is clear that the company is interested in doing another reimagining of a classic Resident Evil<\/em> game. Although a full-fledged reveal of Resident Evil 4 Remake<\/em> is unlikely, it wouldn’t be impossible if the company would be giving out a small tease during the event to keep fans interested.<\/p>\n
