Nintendo is experiencing an all-time high lately, with the success that is the Nintendo Switch<\/strong>. The hybrid handheld has proven to be a monumental success for the gaming giant, and a steady stream of heavy-hitter exclusives ensures that the streak may not be ending anytime soon. While fans are clamoring for more information on Zelda: Breath of the Wild<\/em>\u00a02<\/em><\/a> and Metroid Prime 4<\/em> among many others, Nintendo might have greater surprises in the near future.<\/p>\n

Rumors have been swirling for some time now regarding an updated Nintendo Switch<\/a>, with two prominent fan names being the Switch Pro and the Super Switch. It’s been reported that the standout features might be 4K support and updated specs among some others, and it seems that Microsoft’s FPS Boost seems to be a perfect candidate for a feature that would ensure the console’s success.<\/p>\n

Microsoft’s Xbox platform is a platform that just keeps on growing with every passing day. The recent acquisition of ZeniMax Media<\/a> has provided a great boost to its already bursting catalog for Xbox Game Pass, and the rumored Ubisoft+ addition would also prove great in a similar manner. While Xbox’s FPS Boost may not be talked about that much, it certainly is a great addition for players wanting more out of their gaming experiences.<\/p>\n

Xbox FPS Boost increases the FPS of certain games via a simple patch, and it seems to work elegantly. Many games both new and old have benefitted greatly from the feature with standout highlights being Prey<\/em>, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim<\/em><\/a>, and Dishonored<\/em>. Nintendo needs to “steal” this feature if it wants its rumored Switch Pro to appeal to the greatest possible audience.<\/p>\n

Nintendo’s rumored Switch Pro<\/a> is, in broad strokes at least, a better version of the original Switch. It’s expected that newer games would have considerably better performance thanks to the significantly more powerful hardware resources at developers’ disposal. Fans have also speculated that many games including the likes of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2<\/em> would be exclusive to the upgraded system. However, that speculation is quite unlikely as many future heavy-hitters are already announced to be arriving on the regular Switch.<\/p>\n

Thus, it makes clear that with the given information, there isn’t much reason to invest in the Switch Pro except for high-resolution support and the potential to rectify issues with the original design such Joy-Con drift. Hence, it’s integral that Nintendo adapts such a feature and goes the extra mile in making previous releases benefit\u00a0from it. It would make the prospect of buying a premium console worthwhile at launch, and more so given that the Switch Pro may retail at around $400, which seems quite a bit high for a handheld with unknown specifications. Recent ports like Panic Button’s Apex Legends<\/em> on the Switch<\/a> haven’t had the best of critical reception, and the added hardware capabilities definitely need to deliver with improved technical performance to keep third-party ports up to snuff.<\/p>\n
