He and his bird sidekick Kazooie have recently made a comeback in the public consciousness with <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/banjo-kazooie\/\"><em>Banjo-Kazooie<\/em><\/a>\u2019s inclusion in the <strong><em>Super Smash Bros. Ultimate<\/em><\/strong> roster. Now the duo is getting their own amiibo.<\/p>\n<p>The first <em>Banjo-Kazooie<\/em> game released in 1998, and was widely adored by critics and the public. After this, Rare followed up with <em>Banjo-Tooie,<\/em> which also performed very well. In 2008 the company released <em>Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts<\/em>; however, it fell flat with the public and critics alike. Many blamed this failure on the team behind the initial <em>Banjo<\/em> games having left Rare. In 2015 Playtonic Studios, which is comprised of many former Rare employees, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/yooka-laylee-fastest-kickstarter-game-1-million\/\">broke Kickstarter records with\u00a0<em>Yooka-Laylee<\/em><\/a><em>.<\/em>, a spiritual successor to<em> Banjo-Kazooie.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/super-smash-bros-amiibo-fall-2021\/\">Next Super Smash Bros. Amiibo May Not Release Until Fall 2021<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Since then, <em>Banjo-Kazooie<\/em> has made a comeback and now the duo has their own\u00a0amiibo. This is official amiibo number 85, following <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/super-smash-bros-ultimate-persona-joker-dragon-quest-hero-amiibo-release-date\/\"><em>Dragon Quest\u2019s<\/em> \u201cHero\u201d<\/a> and preceding \u201cTerry Bogard.\u201d The <em>Banjo-Kazooie<\/em>\u00a0amiibo is out now and has features in several games, including <em>Smash Bros.<\/em> In<em> Smash Bros.<\/em>, where it allows Banjo to appear in-game as an NPC fighter. In <em>Super Mario Party<\/em> the amiibo only gives \u201cparty points,\u201d and in <em>Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker<\/em> it gives the player an extra life. While compatibility is listed for several other games, there is no functionality listed for these yet.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RareLtd\/status\/1375434732410970113\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The near-field-communication toy promotion has worked for both <em>Skylanders<\/em> and <em>Disney Infinity<\/em>. The same <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nintendo-amiibo-sales-splatoon\/\">seems to be true for Nintendo<\/a>, as in 2018 it reported 50 million units had been sold. Though most amiibo are not worth much, some misprint ones can be worth absurd amounts. One of the most expensive amiibo the coveted legless Peach,\u00a0which sold for $25,000 USD in 2014.<\/p>\n<p><em>Banjo-Kazooie<\/em> fans are no doubt glad their community is receiving more attention. The introduction of <em>Banjo-Kazooie<\/em> to <em>Smash<\/em> proved to be an incredibly popular decision for Nintendo. The character has wide appeal, drawing admiration from those who are in their 30s and played the game as a child, as well as kids who are just now discovering the character.<\/p>\n<p>However, <em>Banjo-Kazooie<\/em> fans may be feeling restless. While many are sure to see any attention as good attention, some are no doubt upset that there has still been no new <em>Banjo<\/em> game in some time<em>.<\/em> The renewed attention experienced by the franchise has certainly boosted <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/banjo-kazooie-3-double-fine-tim-schafer\/\">hopes that there will one day be a true third installment<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Super Smash Bros.
