Except for some graphical reduction on the Switch, it\u2019s actually quite surprising that the console can handle <em>Rise<\/em>. It\u2019s proof that the Switch Pro is not needed any time soon as much as fans want it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1 related-single\">RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/monster-hunter-rise-best-classes\/\">Monster Hunter Rise: Every Class Ranked Worst To Best<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">That aside, one of the biggest questions that comes up about <i>Monster Hunter Rise<\/i> is what are the differences between it and <i>Monster Hunter World<\/i>? In other words, what has changed between the two games, what has stayed the same, and what has been added?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">10 <\/span>Palamutes<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static2.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Monster-Hunter-Rise-1-3.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><em>Monster Hunter Rise\u00a0<\/em>has introduced a\u00a0new pet to coexist next to the longtime Palico companions. Palamutes, unlike Palicoes, can always accompany players in multiplayer. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">They are used as a combat companion and also a riding buddy, serving similar to a small horse to get around the maps faster. The series has made it so monsters could be ridden before but it was never in a dedicated manner like this.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">9 <\/span>Cohoots<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Monster-Hunter-Rise-2-2.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Cohoots are another new animal companion. These owls act like drones in other games. <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/assassins-creed-valhalla-eagle-vision\/\">A good example is <i>Assassin\u2019s Creed<\/i> which uses birds to scope out areas<\/a>. Unfortunately, in <em>Monster Hunter Rise<\/em>,\u00a0players cannot take direct control of these birds in order to scout the land.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"related-single\">RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/best-layered-armor-sets-monster-hunter-world-iceborne\/\">10 Best Layered Armor Sets in Monster Hunter World Iceborne<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Cohoots are more like an explanation or justification\u00a0as to why players can see so much on the map, from roaming monsters to mineral deposits.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">8 <\/span>Wirebugs<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Monster-Hunter-Rise-3-1.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The guiding bugs from <i>Monster Hunter World<\/i> are out. In <em>Monster Hunter Rise<\/em>, they have been replaced with Wirebugs that act like <em>World<\/em>&#8216;s\u00a0grappling hook although more involved. Wirebugs can boost players into the air directly or onto cliffs. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Players can also run up walls like a ninja using them. Combining these two ideas together, the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/every-monster-hunter-game-system\/\">overall nature of this game<\/a> is allowing players more traversal options.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">7 <\/span>Wyvern Riding\u00a0<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Monster-Hunter-Rise-4-1.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Wirebugs have another use. If players are careful enough, they can get them to wrangle monsters down in order to temporarily ride them. This is especially useful when two large monsters cross each other\u2019s path. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This makes it easier to break off materials from the opposing monster as well as take them down quicker via massive damage. It\u2019s like a big Kaiju battle or like a more intense Pokemon scuffle to keep things on-brand with Nintendo.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">6 <\/span>Rampage Mode<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Monster-Hunter-Rise-5-1.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Rampage missions are like <em>Monster Hunter Rise<\/em>\u2019s version of a horde mode from <i>Gears of War<\/i>. The idea of them in the story is that, from time to time, monsters will try and penetrate the gates of the town. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It\u2019s still only four-player co-op missions but in a survival arena setting. They are fun distractions if nothing else and can be lucrative ways to get rare materials.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">5 <\/span>Multiplayer Separation<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static0.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Monster-Hunter-Rise-6-1.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><em>Monster Hunter Rise<\/em>\u00a0has now been split into two distinct hubs. One where players can go on missions by themselves in the story. The other is a gathering location for multiplayer. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1 related-single\">RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/action-rpgs-like-monster-hunter-rise\/\">10 Great Action RPGs To Play If You Like Monster Hunter: Rise<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This makes it so players that don\u2019t care about the story can jump in almost immediately with friends or strangers. The setup is very quick compared to <em>Monster Hunter World<\/em>,\u00a0which is a plus for any game launching with online functionality.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">4 <\/span>Reduced Story<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static0.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Monster-Hunter-Rise-7-1.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The story in\u00a0<em>Monster Hunter Rise<\/em>\u00a0is less prominent than the one in <em>Monster Hunter World<\/em>. That may be a plus for some and a downer for others since <em>Monster Hunter World<\/em> was the first big push <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/every-monster-hunter-game-ranked-according-metacritic\/\">for the series<\/a> to get a proper story. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Consequently,\u00a0<em>Rise<\/em>\u00a0may feel like a step back. Whether one likes the story or not, it should also be noted that cutscenes can now be skipped, even in multiplayer. This makes it much easier for players to get straight to the action.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">3 <\/span>Amiibo Support<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Monster-Hunter-Rise-8-1.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It should come as no surprise to learn that a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nintendo-most-expensive-amiibo-prices\/\">Switch game offers Amiibo support<\/a>. Using almost any Amiibo will enter players into a lottery for the day. They have three chances to win random items via the town\u2019s shopkeeper. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">There are also three exclusive <i>Monster Hunter Rise<\/i> Amiibo available only at GameStop that offer one-time only DLC when registered. The Amiibo are based on\u00a0Magnamalo, Palicoes, and Palamutes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">2 <\/span>No More Environmental Potions<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Monster-Hunter-Rise-9-1.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><em>Monster Hunter World<\/em> made it almost mandatory to drink potions in order to <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/monster-hunter-world-pro-tips-hunters-follow\/\">survive in different environments<\/a>. It was like the potions used to survive the magma layers in <i>The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild<\/i>. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1 related-single\">RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/monster-hunter-rise-best-armor-sets\/\">The 8 Best Armor Sets In Monster Hunter Rise<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This is no longer a factor in\u00a0<em>Monster Hunter Rise<\/em>. There are still plenty of potions hunters need in order to survive a monster encounter but at least the environments are no longer enemies.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">1 <\/span>New Monsters<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Monster-Hunter-Rise-10-1.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">There are technically ten new monsters introduced in <em>Monster Hunter Rise<\/em>. Two of them are smaller monsters like the Bombadgy and Izuchi. The latter has a greater form, Great Izuchi, but it\u2019s really only one new creature there. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The rest are all hits and include Magnamalo, Aknosom, Tetranadon, Somnacanth, Goss Harag, Bishaten, and Rakna-Kadaki.
