Earlier this month, Microsoft announced that it had finally completed its acquisition of Bethesda, absorbing all of its studios and IP such as The Elder Scrolls<\/em>, Fallout<\/em>, and Doom<\/em>. While it seems unlikely that there will be any PlayStation-exclusive Bethesda titles after the release of Deathloop<\/em> and\u00a0Ghostwire: Tokyo<\/em> later this year, one surprise title slipped through the cracks before Microsoft’s acquisition was made official, a PlayStation VR-exclusive port of Doom 3<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Doom 3 VR<\/em> was surprisingly announced earlier this month<\/a> with a release date of today, March 29. The game is a full PlayStation VR conversion of id Software’s iconic action-horror shooter Doom 3<\/em><\/a>, which originally released on PC in 2004 and later ported to Xbox in 2005. This VR conversion is based on the remaster released on Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019.<\/p>\n

To celebrate the release of this full VR conversion of one of id Software’s most important titles<\/a>, Sony has released a launch trailer for Doom 3 VR<\/em>. The VR release of the game retails for $29.99 and includes the Resurrection of Evil and The Lost Mission expansions, entirely rebuilt for Sony’s VR headset, offering over 15 hours of VR shooter content. The game is also compatible with the PlayStation Aim controller.<\/p>\n
