While the TV spots themselves are mostly recut\u00a0from the trailer that&#8217;s made it&#8217;s way around recently, they do have some slightly altered scenes, giving a few more looks at things that were only briefly touched on in the original trailer.<\/p>\n<p>Those who saw that <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/suicide-squad-trailer\/\">first <em>The<\/em> <em>Suicide Squad<\/em> trailer<\/a> will already know the basics: The Suicide Squad is a team composed of various washouts, screw-ups, and villains who have ended up in maximum security prison for some reason or another. If they choose to go on incredibly dangerous missions on behalf of the government, they can get some time knocked off their sentence, just with the risk that any type of failure or insubordination means instant death via an implanted explosive in their head.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/harley-quinn-video-game-appearances-suicide-squad-kill-justice-league\/\">Every Iteration of Harley Quinn Before Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/suicide-squad-new-footage-joker\/\">first\u00a0<em>Suicide Squad<\/em> film<\/a> had a mixed reception, and it seems\u00a0<em>The Suicide Squad<\/em> is more or less ignoring that project entirely. While Viola Davis\u00a0and Margot Robbie have returned as Amanda Waller and Harley Quinn, the new story seems entirely unrelated to the events of the previous film, and the squad is mostly made up of newcomers like John Cena&#8217;s Peacemaker character.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JamesGunn\/status\/1376559674586144771?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CNAjr16AsUp\/\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>That said, there are quite a few new faces in the cast, and it&#8217;s certainly easy to lose track. Someone who didn&#8217;t get much screen time in the trailer was <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/thinker-peter-capaldis-suicide-squad-character-explained\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Peter Capaldi as Thinker<\/a>. The new TV spot doesn&#8217;t reveal his powerset for the films or what exactly his role in the plot will be, but it does give him a line of dialogue on-camera, revealing that he is the one who provides the &#8220;this is suicide&#8221; line from the original trailer&#8217;s voiceover.<\/p>\n<p>An additional TV spot also went out, featuring a few more action shots and a couple of new images.
