Characters, settings, story elements, and abilities in\u00a0<em>Mortal Kombat<\/em> have always been exaggerated, but sometimes the series&#8217; most serious moments <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mortal-kombat-11-references-original-games\/\">come across as silly<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\">RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mortal-kombat-movie-fatalities-trailer\/\">Mortal Kombat 2021: All R-Rated Fatalities In The Trailer (&amp; 3 That Need To Be In The Movie)<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>While every game in the franchise has its\u00a0ridiculous moments,\u00a0<em>Mortal Kombat 4<\/em> is home to some of the most hilariously terrible character endings in the whole franchise.\u00a0<em>Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance<\/em> took character endings to a meta-level of silliness, while other entries like\u00a0<em>Mortal Kombat:\u00a0<\/em><em>Unchained<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe<\/em> had their eyebrow-raising moments too.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">10 <\/span>Jarek \u2013 Mortal Kombat 4<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Jarek-Mortal-Kombat-Funny-Arcade-Character-Ending.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Jarek was a new character in\u00a0<em>Mortal Kombat 4<\/em> who took the same role Kano did in previous entries. He and Sonya Blade <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mortal-kombat-video-game-fights-subzero-scorpion-sonya-kano\/\">have a similar rivalry<\/a>, too, that culminates at the end of\u00a0<em>Mortal Kombat 4<\/em>. The cutscene in-game is jarring, to say the least.<\/p>\n<p>Sonya confronts Jarek on top of a cliff. When she dodges his leaping attack, Jarek falls off the edge screaming incoherently. Moments later, when Sonya calls Jax to confirm his death, Jarek crawls back up the cliff and pulls her off instead. Then, somehow Jax shows up instantly, <i>actually\u00a0<\/i>says &#8220;this isn&#8217;t brutality, this is a fatality&#8221; and throws Jarek off the cliff.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">9 <\/span>Liu Kang \u2013 Mortal Kombat\u00a0vs. DC Universe<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static2.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Liu-Kang-Mortal-Kombat-Mortal-Kombat-Funny-Arcade-Character-Ending.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Jax calling his execution of Jarek a fatality is pretty campy, even for a\u00a0<em>Mortal Kombat<\/em> game.\u00a0<em>Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe<\/em> is a\u00a0much later entry in the series, though, that does a similar meta-joke that just seems a bit\u00a0<em>too<\/em> over the top.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\">RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/unanswered-questions-after-playing-mortal-kombat-11-aftermath\/\">10 Unanswered Questions We Still Have After Playing Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>When Liu Kang ascends at the end of his story, Raiden tells him that to gain the unstoppable powers of the gods, he needs to shout a two-word phrase: &#8220;Mortal Kombat!&#8221;<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>It&#8217;s a callback to the original\u00a0<em>Mortal Kombat<\/em> ads and the iconic theme song, but it&#8217;s hard not to laugh at the ridiculousness of it.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">8 <\/span>Scorpion \u2013 Mortal Kombat 4<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Scorpion-Mortal-Kombat-Funny-Arcade-Character-Ending.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>The entire backstory for Scorpion and Sub-Zero&#8217;s rivalry revolves around the former getting revenge for <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mortal-kombat-mileena-best-fatalities-brutalities-ranked\/\">his family&#8217;s murder<\/a> at the hands of the Lin Kuei ninja. In\u00a0<em>Mortal Kombat 4<\/em>, this is thrown aside for a new backstory, where Quan Chi killed Scorpion&#8217;s family instead.<\/p>\n<p>The ending cutscene for Scorpion is nothing if not confusing, but the too-long, twitchy animation of Quan Chi yelling in the Netherrealm at the end is among the funniest visuals in any\u00a0<em>Mortal Kombat<\/em> game.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">7 <\/span>Sub-Zero \u2013 Mortal Kombat 4<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static0.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Sub-Zero-Mortal-Kombat-4-Funny-Arcade-Character-Ending.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Similar to\u00a0Scorpion&#8217;s ending in\u00a0<em>Mortal Kombat 4<\/em>, Sub-Zero&#8217;s conclusion in the same game is all-around terrible. In Sub-Zero&#8217;s case, though, the cutscene\u00a0<em>doesn&#8217;t even focus on him<\/em> \u2013 it focuses on Scorpion and Quan Chi.\u00a0Right as Sub-Zero is about to declare victory over Scorpion, Quan Chi comes out of absolutely nowhere and knocks\u00a0the ninja\u00a0to the ground.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\">RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mortal-kombat-fighting-game-characters-sub-zero-beat-cant\/amp\/\">Mortal Kombat: 5 Fighting Game Characters Sub-Zero Could Beat In A Fight (&amp; 5 He Can&#8217;t)<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Quan Chi then begins a twitchy-yet-rigid monologue about his secret dealings. Scorpion stands up, even after having been defeated, and kills Quan Chi. The cutscene also featured an audio outtake that should have been removed for the game \u2013 listen to the audio right at the end of the cutscene closely.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">6 <\/span>Mokap \u2013 Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static2.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Mokap-Character-Ending-Mortal-Kombat.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Mokap was something of a joke character <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/street-fighter-mortal-kombat-fighting-games-hip-hop-rap-culture-history\/\">who was initially inspired<\/a> by a motion capture artist who worked on the\u00a0series. He was a secret character in<em> Deadly Alliance<\/em> and also featured in\u00a0<em>Armageddon<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of\u00a0<em>Deadly Alliance<\/em>, the audience learns that none other than Midway Games,\u00a0<em>Mortal Kombat<\/em>&#8216;s publisher, heard of Mokap&#8217;s prowess. Johnny Cage&#8217;s movie is in the works at the end of <em>Deadly Alliance<\/em>, and Mokap is offered the chance to do motion capture for the video game based on the movie. Meta? Yes. Hilarious? Also yes.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">5 <\/span>Reptile \u2013 Mortal Kombat 4<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Shinnok-Reptile-Mortal-Kombat-Funny-Arcade-Character-Ending.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Reptile&#8217;s ending cutscene in\u00a0<em>Mortal Kombat 4<\/em> was another that didn&#8217;t give the character a happy ending just because they beat the game. Reptile goes to Quan Chi and demands to be returned to his homeworld before its destruction, as part of\u00a0a deal with Shinnok.<\/p>\n<p>Shinnok appears, choke-lifts Reptile, and tells him that he &#8220;could kill you with a mere thought.&#8221; Reptile says &#8220;we had a deal&#8221; to which Shinnok replies, &#8220;I AM NOT A GOD OF MY WORD, REPTILE. ALL DEALS&#8230; ARE OFF!&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/rumor-mortal-kombat-11-ultimate-adds-secret-fight-reptile\/\">Then, Reptile explodes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">4 <\/span>Raiden \u2013 Mortal Kombat 4<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Raiden-Mortal-Kombat-4-Funny-Arcade-Character-Ending.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Raiden&#8217;s ending in\u00a0<em>Mortal Kombat 4<\/em> would not be as hilarious as it is without the audio issues present in many cutscenes in the game. Raiden is offered a chance to become an Elder God for having protected Earthrealm for so long, and he chooses Fujin as his replacement as protector of Earth.<\/p>\n<p>Then, when the Elder God in the sky disappears, there is a brief pause. The cutscene starts to fade out, and one can hear a very distinct voice whispering &#8220;alright.&#8221; It&#8217;s<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/every-mortal-kombat-11-fighter-not-game-yet\/\"> completely out of place<\/a>, and obviously the result of badly edited audio, but the same &#8220;alright&#8221; appears in several cutscenes throughout the game.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">3 <\/span>Jax \u2013 Mortal Kombat: Unchained<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Jax-Ending-Mortal-Kombat-Funny-Arcade-Character-Ending.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p><em>Mortal Kombat: Unchained<\/em>\u00a0is an entry in the series exclusive to the Playstation Portable, aka the PSP. Many plot points aren&#8217;t considered canon by fans because <em>Unchained\u00a0<\/em>is<em>\u00a0<\/em>not a very popular title, but nonetheless, it has its ridiculous moments.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\">RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mortal-kombat-universe-forgotten-species\/\">10 Species You Forgot Exist In The Mortal Kombat Universe<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Jax&#8217;s story ends with him being the only one who wasn&#8217;t subdued by Onaga, the Dragon King. Jax goes up to Onaga and, simply put, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/mortal-kombat-11-fatal-blow-explained\/\">beats the ever-living hell<\/a> out of him with his bionic fists. It&#8217;s brutal but out of place in the most hilarious way.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">2 <\/span>Liu Kang \u2013 Mortal Kombat 4<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Liu-Kang-Kitana-Edenia-Mortal-Kombat-Funny-Arcade-Character-Ending.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Another entry from\u00a0<em>Mortal Kombat 4<\/em>, Liu Kang&#8217;s ending in the game results in him defending his title as champion of Mortal Kombat while being unable to defend the realm of Edenia. As a result, he loses Kitana, but not before she talks to him one more time.<\/p>\n<p>The cutscene is hilarious because Kitana keeps on interrupting Liu Kang constantly, but not in a tasteful way. Kitana cuts him off when\u00a0he asks her questions, and ultimately disappears with little to say. The comedic timing on the interruptions is unmatched, though.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">1 <\/span>Johnny Cage \u2013 Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Johnny-Cage-Mortal-Kombat-Deadly-Alliance-Funny-Arcade-Character-Ending.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>Johnny Cage&#8217;s ending in\u00a0<em>Deadly Alliance<\/em>\u00a0is basically one big meta-joke.
