Many people joined the\u00a0Monster Hunter\u00a0<\/em>series with\u00a0Monster Hunter: World<\/em> and they will recognize Tobi-Kadachi when they play\u00a0Monster Hunter Rise<\/em><\/strong>. However, they may be a little surprised by Tobi-Kadachi’s increased aggressiveness. With that being said, here are some things to keep in mind when fighting Tobi-Kadachi in\u00a0Monster Hunter Rise<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Before players head off to fight Tobi-Kadachi they will want to make sure they bring the appropriate gear. As Tobi-Kadachi uses thunder element attacks, players will want to have armor<\/a> that resists thunder. If their best armor set does not have high thunder resistance then eating Dango at the canteen for thunder resistance is also a good idea if possible. Unlike\u00a0Monster Hunter: World<\/em>, nullberries are not necessary to cure thunderblight. Players can just continually roll until it goes away, but nullberries can definitely be faster.<\/p>\n

In terms of what weapon to bring, Tobi-Kadachi is weakest to water and fire damage. Water is the most effective element, so if players have a good water element weapon, then they should bring it. Tobi-Kadachi is also moderately weak to dragon and ice damage, but players shouldn’t really go out of their way to get one of these elements if they don’t have one.<\/p>\n

As for the best place to attack Tobi-Kadachi, it’s going to be the tail. Hitzone values are consistent among the various weapon types so no matter what weapon is being used,\u00a0be it a blademaster weapon<\/a> or gunner weapon, the tail is the best place to aim for. Barring the tail, the head and neck are the second-best places to hit.<\/p>\n

If players are hoping to inflict a status condition on Tobi-Kadachi then poison is one of the best bets. The in-game\u00a0notes rate\u00a0Tobi-Kadachi’s poison susceptibility at three stars. Blast is also listed with a two-star effectiveness rating. One of the more important ailments when it comes to Tobi-Kadachi is waterblight. The hunter’s notebook specifically goes out of its way to inform players that inflicting Tobi-Kadachi with waterblight will stop it from being able to charge. Mudbeetles are a form of endemic life<\/a> that can be used to inflict waterblight on monsters. In the Shrine Ruins, they are found in area 10, and in the Flooded Forest, they are found in area 4.<\/p>\n

As previously mentioned, Tobi-Kadachi is far more aggressive this time around than it was in\u00a0Monster Hunter: World<\/em><\/a>. Its attacks are mostly the same though, which means it will attempt to jump at hunters and often hit them with its tail. These tail swipes can inflict a large amount of damage this time around, so players will want to watch out any time Tobi jumps or its tail is facing them.<\/p>\n

Sometimes Tobi-Kadachi will jump on a wall and at this point, if players are able to deal enough damage, they can hit it off the wall causing a knockdown<\/a>. In general, given its increased aggressiveness this time around, players will want to avoid staying in one location for too long. Listening to the callouts from the hunters will also be helpful to determine when it’s going to do a particularly powerful attack.<\/p>\n

It also does have one new attack in its arsenal compared to\u00a0World<\/em> in which it throws quills at players from afar, making this one ranged attack to watch out for. It’s not a particularly damaging attack, but it is more effective when Tobi-Kadachi is charged up and will inflict thunderblight in that case as well. Any time hunters are afflicted with thunderblight, they’ll want to get rid of it quickly because having it makes them more susceptible to being stunned.<\/p>\n

Like any non-elder dragon, Tobi-Kadachi can be captured<\/a> and unlike Zinogre, shock traps will work on it. So if players are having a difficult time with Tobi-Kadachi, they can both use traps to immobilize it as well as shorten the fight, by capturing it when it’s low on health.<\/p>\n

Monster Hunter Rise<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0is now available for the Nintendo Switch.\u00a0A PC release is slated for 2022.<\/p>\n
