One of the many draws to\u00a0Outriders\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>is that it features full crossplay capability. That is to say that players can enjoy the game together with friends even if they are on separate consoles. There was a time when this sort of thing was unthinkable, but recently it has become more commonplace. As great as this is, there is some confusion surrounding how to enable crossplay<\/a>, as the process was a bit of a headache in the free demo. Unfortunately, not much has changed, but those that used in the demo will be familiar with the process.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0Outriders<\/em><\/a>, players can experience the story and world together as soon as they finish the prologue. Once arriving in Rift Town, there are numerous ways for players to group of with friends or use matchmaking to find others. Crossplay supports this by allowing players to ignore console boundaries. PlayStation players can game with Xbox players and vice versa.<\/p>\n

The first thing players need to know is that\u00a0Outriders\u00a0<\/em>starts with crossplay disabled by default<\/a>. In other games, this is often done so that console players can choose not to play with PC players. Some players may want to opt out of crossplay to avoid cheaters, and others may feel that playing on PC gives others an unfair advantage. Whatever the reason is, players will first need to enable crossplay in the settings menu in order to play with friends on other consoles.<\/p>\n

Doing this is simple. While in game, press the start or options button to open the game menu, the same one that players can use to access guides, change their world tier, or return to the lobby. Instead, press options to open the gameplay options menu. There are many features that players can change, but the important one here is located towards the bottom. To turn on crossplay, players just need to hover over it and select it. It should be noted that crossplay is listed as a beta feature<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As a beta feature, using\u00a0crossplay in\u00a0Outriders\u00a0<\/em>isn’t as seamless as one might hope. In order to play with friends on other platforms, players will need to go to the Play With Friends section in the game menu. From here, find the section titled crossplay game codes in the lower left hand corner. To let others join the world, generate a game code and share it with them. To join someone else’s world, select join using a game code. As the feature is still in beta, there have been some bugs found by players<\/a>, including one that causes PC players to be kicked when playing crossplay.<\/p>\n

Outriders\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.<\/p>\n
