Network services revenue increased. PlayStation 5 on track for launch in this holiday season. No major issues in game software development at this point,&rdquo; reads a presentation to investors.<\/p>\n<p>In more detail, Sony added: &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/2020\/01\/06\/ps5-e3-release-date-specs-games-features\/\">Regarding the launch of the PlayStation 5<\/a>, although factors such as employees working from home and restrictions on international travel have presented some challenges in regards to part of the testing process and the qualifications of production lines, development is progressing with the launch of the console scheduled for the 2020 holiday season.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;At this point in time major problems have not arisen in the game software development pipeline for Sony&rsquo;s own first-party studios or its partners&rsquo; studios.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.vg247.com\/current\/\/2020\/04\/mockup_ps5_controller_black_1--1152x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1152\" height=\"768\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-750392\" srcset=\"https:\/\/assets.vg247.com\/current\/2020\/04\/mockup_ps5_controller_black_1--1152x768.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/assets.vg247.com\/current\/2020\/04\/mockup_ps5_controller_black_1--156x104.jpg 156w, https:\/\/assets.vg247.com\/current\/2020\/04\/mockup_ps5_controller_black_1--600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/assets.vg247.com\/current\/2020\/04\/mockup_ps5_controller_black_1--768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/assets.vg247.com\/current\/2020\/04\/mockup_ps5_controller_black_1--195x130.jpg 195w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1152px) 100vw, 1152px\"><\/p>\n<p>However, it did note that first-party game sales were down, as are PlayStation 4 hardware sales, as the console comes to the end of its lifecycle.<\/p>\n<p>The positive news for Sony&rsquo;s game division is in sharp contrast to its music and pictures businesses, which are suffering delays to manufacturing, the impact of cinema shutdowns, stalled movie and TV projects and a large drop in advertising revenues.  <\/p>\n<p><iframe width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2GZHq3bVLzY?start=56&amp;feature=oembed\" alt=\"Please accept cookies to see this iframe.\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Sony&rsquo;s game division has two major releases to look forward to this summer. The highly-anticipated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/2020\/04\/27\/the-last-of-us-part-2-new-release-date\/\">The Last of Us Part 2 is due June 19<\/a>, followed by new Sucker Punch IP <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/2020\/05\/12\/ghost-of-tsushima-state-of-play\/\">Ghost of Tsushima on July 17<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Sony is expected to reveal a proper look at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/2020\/05\/12\/watch-summer-game-fest-playstation-xbox-livestreams\/\">the PlayStation 5 at a briefing in June<\/a>.
