But as the deal came to its conclusion, there were concerns about EA folding the studio into its ranks, forcing it to be a more corporate entity.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"video\">\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/NspSHUFieho?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=NspSHUFieho\"  rel=\"noopener\">Watch on YouTube<\/a><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson has stated that the publisher doesn&rsquo;t intend to make the newly-acquired studio change, however, and that its goal is actually to encourage Codemasters&rsquo; independence.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Similar to Respawn, our orientation isn&rsquo;t to come in and take over Codemasters; our orientation isn&rsquo;t to come in and turn Codemasters into another Electronic Arts studio; our orientation is around the provision of opportunity,&rdquo; Wilson told&nbsp;<a class=\"link-external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mcvuk.com\/1-2-billion-is-a-big-number-but-we-think-its-a-great-opportunity-to-bring-two-great-companies-together-the-inside-track-on-eas-acquisition-of-codemasters\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">MCV<\/a>&nbsp;(via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.videogameschronicle.com\/news\/eas-ceo-says-codemasters-will-be-able-to-retain-its-identity-like-respawn-has\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">VGC<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This industry is all about amazing, creative talent. And we see little upside in the indoctrination of that amazing creative talent. But we do want to provide them access to the things that we get by virtue of our position in the industry.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Wilson goes on to say that EA has&nbsp;an &ldquo;amazing cupboard&rdquo; that contains myriad IP, modern tech, marketing resources, and an in-built player base.
