\tIntel appointed Christy Pambianchi (pictured) EVP and chief people officer two days after she resigned from her role as the head of Verizon’s human resources (HR) unit.<\/p>\n

Pambianchi starts her new position on 7 September, reporting to Intel CEO\u00a0Pat Gelsinger.<\/p>\n

In a statement announcing the appointment, Gelsinger described Pambianchi as an \u201cHR leader with deep experience in global manufacturing and technology companies\u201d.<\/p>\n

Pambianchi joins as Intel invests heavily in semicondcuctor manufacturing facilities [1] and 5G [2].<\/p>\n

In a statement, she explained Intel and the overall semiconductor industry are at a \u201cvital inflection point\u201d, adding the company has a \u201cfoundational role\u201d to play in ensuring a resilient and secure supply chain.<\/p>\n

Intel credited Pambianchi with helping Verizon \u201cstay at the forefront of digital transformation\u201d with \u201creimagined\u201d HR practices.<\/p>\n

Before joining Verizon in 2019, Pambianchi spent 20 years at Corning, most recently as EVP of people and digital.<\/p>\n

Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg announced Pambianchi\u2019s departure on 9 August, thanking her for her contributions.<\/p>\n

The operator appointed EVP and chief administrative, legal and public policy officer Craig Silliman interim HR lead.<\/p>\n
