Klein, who worked as a lead game designer at <strong>Apex Legends<\/strong> developer Respawn, has been let go after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deviantart.com\/danielzklein\/journal\/I-am-Daniel-s-Angry-Rant-240926907?fbclid=IwAR1wtl3WJz6CIhg2R6QJK-lqN7jHSQuJysun2aw6GJ2vfg8CGw2PK8DvwHA\" rel=\"noopener\" >blog posts he wrote in 2007<\/a> were discovered. The posts had Klein calling women &ldquo;irrational&rdquo; for their &ldquo;moron chromosomes,&rdquo; and in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/apex_sherrif\/status\/1420195253097832448?s=21\" rel=\"noopener\" >another<\/a> likening his African neighbours to animals.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"video\">\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/bOD88NwyShM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bOD88NwyShM\"  rel=\"noopener\">Watch on YouTube<\/a><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>Screenshots of the blog posts made the rounds last month, prompting Klein to <a href=\"https:\/\/mobile.twitter.com\/danielzklein\/status\/1420156556725788678\" rel=\"noopener\" >admit that he wrote them<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/mobile.twitter.com\/danielzklein\/status\/1420156557614927876\" rel=\"noopener\" >apologise<\/a> at the time.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I take full ownership for the things I said, and I&rsquo;m embarrassed, sad, and angry at my younger self for saying this stuff. I hope it is obvious that I don&rsquo;t believe these things anymore,&rdquo; Klein wrote on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>When the posts came to light, EA told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fanbyte.com\/features\/apex-legends-lead-designer-fired-after-community-unearths-sexist-and-racist-posts\/\" rel=\"noopener\" >Fanbyte<\/a> that its HR department is investigating. A few days later, Klein was fired.<\/p>\n<p>The game designer announced the news in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/danielzklein\/status\/1425208160566927362?s=20\" rel=\"noopener\" >lengthy Twitter thread<\/a>. &ldquo;I have poured so much energy into becoming a better person since then, and right now I&rsquo;m just very depressed because it feels I&rsquo;ll never be able to make up for who I was,&rdquo; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;To be clear, I&rsquo;m not saying EA or Respawn did anything untoward. They were absolutely within their rights to terminate me, much as I may disagree with that decision.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Lastly, I&#8217;m just truly sorry to the Apex team. This is a headache they did not need. I know what their future plans are and I absolutely believe Apex has a bright future. There&#8217;s so much cool shit coming.
